4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: While there are a few cases a year of safety issues, these are the exception and most of the time, you will be save.

Athletics: The school spirit here rivals anywhere else in the country, and almost every student was a varsity athlete in high school. We all understand sports and love sports.

Guys & Girls: The girls here are extremely attractive and very smart, both of which I admire in a woman.

Scholarships: While I was very lucky and received all of the financial aid I needed right off of the bat, many people I know did not. However, if you are persistent, you can usually get what you need.

Party Scene: So much better than I thought it would be. There are some great parties and students are great at balancing play with work.

Campus Food: I love the food. The dining halls close early on the weekends which is weird to me

Scholarships: I am a little biased, but I received a great financial aid package and am paying less than ten grand a year to go here.

Administration: Boy dorms throw great parties, but girl dorms can't have any. Parietals are strictly enforced. Alcohol is very easy to get and drink, but don't even think about drugs. You will be kicked off campus

Campus Housing: Everything is great, except parietals. I am sure everyone else will tell you the exact dame thing.

Health & Safety: The availability and options you have are amazing.

Athletics: Everyone comes together for all of the sports on campus whether it be soccer, basketball, hockey, and football of course. Athletics are definitely a huge part of campus, especially football. If we lose a game, it is extremely obvious that night.

Guys & Girls: I am a girl. 75% of the guys here are very attractive. If you are not into the athletic Irish boy, then your selection may be a little more slim. The girls here are mostly average. There are a few ugly ones and a few beautiful ones that you will learn to envy.

Campus Housing: Comparing my dorm to some of the dorms I've seen at other universities, Notre Dame could definitely step it up. I understand that these dorms are old and major renovations are probably ridiculously expensive and not totally practical but there could be some things done to make the older dorms better. That being said, two new dorms are currently being built and I will reserve total judgement on my thoughts of ND's design options until they are done.

Overall Experience: Going here will probably be one of the best decisions of my life. The Alumni network is awesome and a Notre Dame degree is pretty highly regarded. I don't just plan on riding the ND wave to a career but having a degree from here will definitely help me get ahead.

Local Area: It's okay to be here but a lot of stuff is far away and even though the buses run throughout town, I have concerns about my safety when traveling around on them since I don't know the city that well. Also, the type of crimes committed on and off campus leave me wary of venturing away too far.

2 College Junior

Local Area: South Bend is dangerous and there is not much to do further off campus than just one street. There is a nice mall, but I usually never have time to go there. There isn't much reason to leave campus either, because we have a student grocery store called the Huddle and other places to eat besides the dining hall. They also show movies every friday and saturday in the large class room.

Overall Experience: I love all of my classes. Except for two professors in my three years so far, every single one has been great. The work is hard but the reward is huge.

Administration: The RA's and such don't try to get anyone in trouble, they just deal with a situation if it arises.

Health & Safety: The city of South Bend is dangerous and a lot of criminal activity happens just off campus which NDSP doesn't report to the students to alert them. But, resources concerning student wellness are abundant and very useful.

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus is cheaper but the winters are hard so you'd need a car to get to class for sure unless you wanna walk outside for 20 minutes.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: There are always parties happening. The best are off-campus, but dorms do have some sweaty freshmen fun.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: It was easy to submit a FASFA but I was not considered one of the top recruits at my school and did not receive any Merit Awards. Financial Aid remains the same as the cost of the university rises and it burdens my family.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Chipotle and five guys solve all problems- dinner or late night runs

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Everyone that needed aid was able to get some of it

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

"Wonderful," "amazing," "special," "family"-these are the most common words that students use to describe their times at Notre Dame. The University has a unique atmosphere that is embraced by many; the campus is basically self-contained, the dorms are all very close-knit, and there are truly strong connections between students. While the weather may test your survival skills and the administration may try your patience, the Notre Dame experience is unlike any other you'll ever have. The school's tradition and history create an environment where you'll feel welcomed the moment you step foot on campus.

Notre Dame is not an easy school, and it's important to remember that academics are huge. Above all else, you need to be willing to study and focus, or you're not going to make it through the University's workload. Students here are universally dedicated to their studies, and campus life reflects it. This is not a party school. Students may find themselves frustrated by the value system or the lack of outside activities. The best recommendation for Notre Dame is to visit and check out campus life firsthand. Often, the atmosphere alone is enough to sway your feelings one way or the other.
