Campus Food: If there was a way to rate 3.5 I would. Most of the food is pretty good. There are some meals that are worse than others, but usually there will always be an option you'll like. They give you a pretty good variety of choices and there is always a salad bar and fruit bar! That's honestly the thing I miss the most about having a meal plan. Also, if you're looking for a homier atmosphere to eat in, go to TK.

Campus Housing: Every dorm is different, so it's hard to make generalizations, but I think UNC has some of the nicer dorms AND dining halls that I've seen. The food is actually pretty good. Obviously the newer dorms like North or South Hall are the nicest ones on campus, but I think that UNC does a decent job of keeping all of the other dorms in good shape. It's also very easy to get help if you have an issue or if something breaks. There are maintenance crews around campus who will come to you. In my opinion, there's a more open/inclusive social atmosphere on central campus more than west campus, possibly because everyone is closer together and tend to be more artistic students. None of the dorms are more than a 15 minute walk to any class. When you're looking at housing you can fill out a survey that will help put you with someone similar, or you can request certain people if you have friends you'd like to live with.
