I started at UNC Chapel Hill in August 2023, and only a week or two after beginning campus, there was an active shooter on our campus. Luckily, I had just left to go home from class, but students were climbing out of windows, huddled together in classrooms, while a professor was gunned down and killed. Not very long after, there was another alert that there was an armed and dangerous person near or on campus. So, safety-wise, I wouldn't say that it's the best. Other than safety, it is a beautiful campus that's always bustling with students. Something that I would like to see changed is their safety regulations. Because the campus is so spread out, I think it's harder to keep out potential threats
Overall, I love my school. It is the definition of a work hard, play hard school. I've enjoyed all of my classes. Some have been incredibly challenging, but all have been valuable. I have met individuals from all walks of life and made more friends than I could've ever imagined. Sports are a big part of the school and its really easy to get involved. The dorms aren't incredibly nice but I think no matter where you live you'll make great memories. The food options are sufficient and the dining hall is typically good. Carolina definitely has its shortcomings when it comes to administration responsiveness but I feel that is a given considering its size and that it is a public university.
As a student attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I have had an incredible experience so far. The campus itself is stunning, with historic brick buildings and towering trees that create a beautiful atmosphere to study and learn in. UNC's faculty and staff are exceptional, always going above and beyond to help students achieve their goals and succeed in their academic pursuits.
One of the things that sets UNC apart is the sense of community that permeates the campus. From sports games to club meetings, something is always happening on campus, and students are encouraged to get involved and make the most of their time here. The student body is incredibly diverse and welcoming, making it easy to find like-minded individuals and form lasting connections.
I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to attend such an amazing institution, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a world-class education in a vibrant and supportive community.
