Tips for Getting In

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • A "B" is a good grade here-don't be heartbroken if you can't maintain a 4.0.
  • Confer with your roommate to decide who is bringing what and when.
  • Don't take on a heavy course load freshman year.
  • Get the smallest meal plan possible, plenty of Flex Dollars, and a large expense account.
  • Join a lot of clubs.
  • Look for bed sheets and linens well in advance.
  • Participate in all of the orientation activities.
  • Try to move into the dorms as early in the morning as possible.

Campus Tours
The admissions office staff offers a one-hour student-led tour through campus on weekdays year-round, excluding University holidays. During the summer (June 30-August 15), tours depart at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 2:30 p.m. During the school year, tours depart at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. After the tour, an admissions director will hold a one-hour information session. Prospective graduate students can tour the campus Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 p.m. Call (919) 962-1630 for more inforfmation.
Overnight Visits
Fully furnished apartments are made available for overnight visits, but there is a two-night minimum stay, and they must be reserved at least two weeks in advance.
