4 College Freshman

Athletics: Basketball Team Support – I love how our students support our basketball team even when they aren't having a great season. The school does a great job of keeping the students involved and informed of athletic events.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Freshmen Dorms Need to Be Updated – I was lucky my freshmen year and was put in the best possible dorm for freshmen. The typical dorms for freshmen are rundown and out of date and far away from the most important part of campus, school buildings.

Administration: Not Too Bad – They have rules and if you blatantly disregard them the punishments can be pretty tough, but as long as you aren't out of control they don't go looking to punish you

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Crab Shoot – I personally enjoyed both dorms I lived in, but I also enjoyed living in an apartment for my last 2 years. The dorms that have just been renovated or are on North Campus tend to be nicer, but the South Campus dorms are great for meeting people if you are an underclassmen.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Tons of Options – There are tons of options but it all depends on how far you want to walk to get to them...

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of Options – There is a lot of variety- lots of varieties of ethnic foods as well as a lot of cheap stuff with nice restaurants to spike in once in a while

3 College Freshman

Academics: Very Diverse – Carolina is an excellent school and presents many opportunities for students. It is a great place for people who know what they want to do for the rest of their lives but also for those who are still undecided.

Overall Experience: school is awesome its freedom and sweetness all wrapped into one i love not having to be controlled and class isnt as bad as i thought either

3 College Freshman

Weather: other then the rain and the cold sometimes its farily nice i love it

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Bus Is the Best – the buses are the easiest ways i think i mean there on time usually and they come back pretty often so i really like taking the bus and campus is so big that it makes traveling to farther away classes very easy

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Buses are convenient and free but sometimes unreliable. The buses that go to Raleigh are notoriously unreliable.

3 College Freshman

Technology: While labs and printing are easily accessible, there isn't wireless internet in dorms. We have to plug into our internet and the cord gets in the way.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Athletic Teams Are Exciting to Watch – compared to other schools, our athletics program is exceptional. We have many talented teams that do well which increases school spirit

3 College Senior

Campus Quality: All centers on campus are clean and pleasing to the eye. The libraries have ample space to study or lounge, the gyms are slightly small but have a good amount of equipment. The student union is slightly bare but clean and comfortable.

2 College Freshman

Parking: Not That Great – there is not much need for a car on campus, and since I don't have one I am not very aware of any problems with the parking situation, but I hear it is expensive and very hard to find parking

4 College Freshman

Diversity: A Myriad of Opportunities – I think that there is a lot of diversity here as far as race goes, relative to most parts of North Carolina. There are fewer people from different countries and out-of-staters are coming to UNC less as tuition increases. There is a multitude of opportunities on campus for people of differing political or spiritual beliefs.

2 College Senior

Local Area: A Fair Amount to Do Here – Chapel Hill is a relatively small town with little activity during the weekends. Most students are in-state and thus go home fairly often. Decent shopping is accessible with a car or bus. Locals treat students with respect and kindness.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I do not know much about the off housing situation. A lot of the houses are old and in need of renovation. One house I know of has a free standing toilet at the top of the stairs. It's hard to find a houses if you don't know someone. Everyone can always use more parking.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Above Other Schools – lots of school spirit, carolina fever, atheltic facilities are sufficient, athletic teams perform very well overall!

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Not Worth the Money – The people in the dining hall try to hard. They put pepper in the mac-and-cheese, onions in the beans, and add too many extras that don't taste good. The only truly good things are the omelets, french fries, and salads (and sometimes the pizza). The food outside the dining hall is actually good which is why I will not be getting a meal plan next year.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life at UNC is fun. Frats throw parties on a regular basis and if you are a girl you have no issues getting in. If you're a boy that is not in the frat you must be on the list.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: I love the nightlife UNC offers. There are numerous places for those under 21 to enjoy. There are a few clubs that are 18 and over. And if you do not want to go to the clubs there are always frat parties and house parties for the students to enjoy.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Frats have good parties but if you under 21 your limited only to them, no bars unless your willing to risk a fake.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Security on Campus – I've never felt concerned for my safety here at UNC. I feel as if our students are protected well. I personally have never had any interaction with any of the law enforcement.

4 College Freshman

Technology: Printing Labs – Always have my work, never jammed or busy. Basically good!

UNC is known for its great academics, abundant research facilities, and storied athletic programs. Students who are priviliged enough to attend Carolina are happy with their choice even though it may not always have been their dream. UNC has been in the top five public schools in the country for the past eight years, and it is considered a "public ivy," so it's no secret that the quality of education at Carolina is far above average. Students at Carolina are continually pushing borders, experiencing new things, and becoming individuals.

At the end of their collegiate careers, many boast of having had the best four years of their lives in Chapel Hill, and that is evidenced by the overwhelming alumni support. UNC will prepare you for what is to come after the beautiful undergraduate years under the perfect Carolina blue sky. But most importantly at Chapel Hill, it is important to cherish every moment because four years fly by, and the college experience is soon over. One of the best things about Carolina is the immense school pride with which the stuent body lives as Tar Heels. Sure, college will be difficult. There will be failed exams and broken hearts, but there will also be experiences that you will never forget—weekend trips with your friends, late night yo-po runs, foam parties at Pulse, Holi Moli, and many others. When you attend Carolina, you will receive a quality education and a great college experience.
