Campus Quality: The Campus Is Beautiful – While many of the classroom buildings at UNC Chapel Hill are slightly run-down, the campus is beautiful, and the buildings simply add to the character of the school. Even though the facilities are old, I wouldn't change any of it (except maybe the creaky elevators in Davis Library).

Athletics: UNC certainly has a phenomenal record in Men's Basketball, Women's Soccer, and other sports. The fan base for athletes is enthusiastic bordering on fanatic. If you ever get the chance to rush Franklin Street after a sporting event that we win like a basketball game, it is well worth it. However, there was a cheating scandal involving a tutor and a couple football players a couple years ago.

Local Area: Ideal College Town – Chapel Hill is a beautiful, friendly town that is generally very safe. There is a wide variety of restaurants, bars, night clubs, and book stores available. Chapel is also very diverse, and there is a lot of school spirit around the town during sporting events.

Academics: Most of the professors are available to answer questions if students need help. In smaller classes, class discussions are encouraged. However, I think there is too much direct reading from slides on PowerPoint presentations in big lecture classes. This is particularly true in science courses. This can make it hard for students to be actively engaged in learning the material. That said, some professors are able to use PowerPoint and still engage students and elicit participation from students.

Off-Campus Dining: Wide Variety and Accessibility: Chapel Hill Dining. There is a wide variety of off-campus dining options in Chapel Hill. These options include fine dining such as Top of the Hill or the Carolina Inn as well as completely accessible eateries such as Jimmy Johns and B-Skis (a tortilla wrap restaurant). I truly think that Chapel Hill is centered around the University and its students and the dining is structured to fit students on a budget as well as parents visting that want a more sophisticated style of meal. Convenience is the name of the game as well--companies such as Tar Heel Take Out offer delivery services from every restaurant in town. Students are given access to coupon books that offer discounts at the wide range of businesses including Qdoba, Pita Pit and Gumby's Pizza. My recommendations however are the Yogurt Pump (commonly referred to as YoPo) and Sutton's Drug Store--two Chapel Hill staples that can't be beat.

Off-Campus Dining: Chapel Hill offers so many places to eat on Franklin street it truly is an idea place for students to go out on the weekends or just during the week day to get some good food. There are tons of places to eat and at various prices so you don't always have to bust the bank to go out.

Campus Food: Dining Hall – The dining halls are better than some universities but their variety and quality of food often lacks and it isn't uncommon to have to resort to pizza or a sandwich for a meal or just opting to find another alternative for food.

Health & Safety: Personal Safety – The university from the very beginning makes sure that students know different ways to best project themselves including the numerous resources available on campus. There are times at night when you need to go with a buddy but other than that the university is fairly good at providing resources and availability to keep students safe.

Transportation: There are many ways to get around campus. There are tons of bus lines that run consistently and the P2P is great for going out late at night.

Campus Food: Dining Halls – The Dining halls are pretty good at Carolina. There is variety and the food tends to be local and organic.

Academics: The journalism school at UNC is amazing. The professors are great and the opportunities are endless.

Campus Housing: Granville Towers - the Best – I love living at Granville Towers! The cafeteria has excellent food choices and flexible hours of operation. The rooms are spacious for dorm rooms and security is good. They also provide other things such as fitness rooms, washers/dryers, swimming pool and basketball courts.

Health & Safety: Definitely Feel Safe – I always feel safe on UNC's campus. It's a wonderful college town where people feel safe to walk at various hours. Granville Towers, where I live, is extremely safe with front-desk security and badge-access mechanisms at all doors.

Parking: Car on Campus – Personally don't feel the need for a car of campus; excellent transportation system.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: General Campus Aesthetics – Thoroughly enjoying campus life; plenty of student activities; only drawback deciding which activity to attend or partake.

Athletics: Varsity sports are a pretty big deal at UNC. We're not great at football, but we keep getting better. Basketball is the real deal though. Club sports are available, with more offerings than Varsity. IMs are also easily accessible to anyone who is interested! The athletic facilities are also very nice if you just want to go get a good workout.

Athletics: Carolina students are very involved in athletic events on campus. This is probably because of out great history of national championships in a variety of sports.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: UNC gives a decent amount of financial aid. And although UNC is known for its cheap tuition, any tuition is still too much. They try to help with work study and grants, but many students receive too little aid.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are so many people of different nations at UNC. Not only are there a plethora of international and exchange students, there are many Asian American, European American and African American students. There are also clubs for students of various ethnic heritages.

Campus Quality: Campus Aesthetics – UNC is known as a "public ivy-league" and by all means the campus beauty fits the name. All of the sidewalks are laid with brick and the buildings range from the oldest styles to the modern science labs. The hundred year-old trees spot the 2 main quads and there is even an arboretum right in the middle of campus! You will often see students hanging out outside and studying in the midst of the gorgeous campus!

3 College Freshman

Local Area: The Places We Can Go – There are a good amount of things to do. Students typically spend time with friends on Franklin Street where there are several restaurants and a few stores. There are also night clubs which students often attend. People can also go to the mall by riding the bus. Student-led events also occur on campus, such as chorus concerts, dance performances, and plays.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Just Enough – There's plenty Greek life, but there's plenty of everything else too. The school is big enough that it just remains a part of the social atmosphere rather than taking a throne before it. Of course, guys aren't really going to get into a lot of Frat parties unless they know someone, but there are plenty of other parties that don't have requirements.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Usually Something to Do – It doesn't really get boring around here. The bars and clubs aren't really necessary for everyone to have a good time - there are always plenty of parties on campus. The P2P runs late enough, but you can always call for it to pick you up too. If not, it's not a far walk.

2 College Junior

Greek Life: Sharp Greek/Non-Greek Divide – Greek life is huge at UNC, and it's one of the reasons other schools are critical of our students. Because it's so huge, it causes a divide between Greeks and non-Greeks, as Greek affiliation or lack thereof kind of becomes part of your identity.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: Local Schools – One of the great things about UNC is that everyone has friends at nearby schools, so it's easy to party at UNC or take a quick ride to another school like State.

UNC is known for its great academics, abundant research facilities, and storied athletic programs. Students who are priviliged enough to attend Carolina are happy with their choice even though it may not always have been their dream. UNC has been in the top five public schools in the country for the past eight years, and it is considered a "public ivy," so it's no secret that the quality of education at Carolina is far above average. Students at Carolina are continually pushing borders, experiencing new things, and becoming individuals.

At the end of their collegiate careers, many boast of having had the best four years of their lives in Chapel Hill, and that is evidenced by the overwhelming alumni support. UNC will prepare you for what is to come after the beautiful undergraduate years under the perfect Carolina blue sky. But most importantly at Chapel Hill, it is important to cherish every moment because four years fly by, and the college experience is soon over. One of the best things about Carolina is the immense school pride with which the stuent body lives as Tar Heels. Sure, college will be difficult. There will be failed exams and broken hearts, but there will also be experiences that you will never forget—weekend trips with your friends, late night yo-po runs, foam parties at Pulse, Holi Moli, and many others. When you attend Carolina, you will receive a quality education and a great college experience.
