Off-Campus Housing: Three of the 4 typical off-campus housing options are not the best. Safety and parking is an issue. The rent each month is not reasonable. And the landlords are not the best. The quality of the apartments are very poor. They are typically dirty and have many issues.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many spots close to campus that offer student discounts. Other spots are fairly accessible, and have a large variety of options.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: The parties are normally held by athletes. They typically last a few hours, and the hours that they do last are worth it. However, they get busted very easily.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: They do what they can to get the job done. They are fair all across the board.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I received what I needed, but I know others that did not.

Campus Housing: Living on campus at UNCA is the equivalent to living in a small community. Everything is within 5 minutes of walking distance, whether that be other residence halls, the cafeteria, educational buildings, or the student union. You meet friends of a life time, since the halls are fairly small. You get to know everyone on campus through different programs such as PlayFair, the freshman orientation, or pre-rendezblue, which is a summer program for UNCA students who would like to meet other students before classes begin. A great feature of UNCA is the substance free dorm. It is the newest of the dorms, and it was built initially to ease those with substance abuse problems back into society, and more importantly, back into school. The resident assistants are awesome, and really form a bond with each of their residents. Freshman are required to live on campus at least for their first year. I think this rule is awesome, because your freshman year is the crucial year you will have. That is the year where you find your niche, and really start to belong. Living on campus introduces you to many different opportunities. More specifically, freshman dorms are the target for on campus organizations. They look to the freshman to recruit new faces into the student organizations, whether that be intramural athletics, Greek life, etc. Living on campus at UNCA has changed my life, not only in the social aspect of making new friends, but it has also increased my level of responsibility.

Off-Campus Housing: Asheville is an expensive place to live. Fair variety in housing but not cheap.

5 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Dining: Asheville is a food and drink town. Tons of variety in food and microbreweries.

3 Recent Alumnus

Administration: Things have changed since I was there, but it used to be overly lenient.

4 Recent Alumnus

Party Scene: Be careful, the party scene at UNCA can be kind of hardcore, don't risk losing your education... but have fun.

3 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: I received federal financial aid through the pell grant.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Food: The dining hall wasn't too bad, good variety. But most spent more time getting the fast food version. Smoothies at the library were great.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: UNCA had nice and spacious dorms. They also made it very easy for me to choose my roommate.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: Its good but there are improvements needed

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I am currently transferring into UNC Asheville, and on my tour the dorms and campus housing were very neat and clean, even when we toured rooms that were occupied they were still kept clean.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I think the food is pretty good, but there isn't much variety since the campus is so small.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus is super convenient because everything is at most a 7 minute walk away.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are multiple places, although can be expensive.

3 College Freshman

Administration: They are more strict with some people than others.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I applied late, so I didn't get much aid.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: It sometimes makes me sick.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Everything is easy to access.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: I have everything covered, but Im using loans to cover half and scholarships the other half, I need more scholarships for sure!!!

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: partys I have been to get shut down at 10 pm... still searching for a good group of people to chill with and party.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: really not that bad, can be pretty off sometimes at brown but there is a large selection. I think the school could have BETTER food atmosphere and choices but ya know
