5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Amazing school with a welcoming environment that challenges the student to perform at the highest levels.

Academics: Academics are fairly good depending on the major chosen, there is many hard classes but some easy ones as well.

Diversity: Fairly diverse although the majority is white.

Drug Safety: They say they crack down on it and I've seen people get busted but the people on my hall always drink and smoke there is always some form of alcohol container in the bathroom trash can.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus normally. The security is fairly good, but the only issue I have is that there are a number of registered sex offenders around the campus.

4 College Student

Overall Experience: The professors are very accepting of all students and are really there to help when they can. They teach with a variety of styles which students must become accommodated too. The testing styles change as well.

Overall Experience: Occasionally people have a tendency to associate UNCW with a party school, but others see it at its full academic value as well.

Campus Housing: I love living on campus in the dorms. I love the convenience of it, as well as being able to bond with others in my suite. The rooms are clean and spacious, and allow me to focus when needed but entertain when able.

Greek Life: Again I am indifferent about Greek life as much as I am about sports. They're great for those who are in them, and I definitely see them involved around campus more so than the average student, but while there are many benefits to such groups I enjoy alone time and not having to go to events and such that I don't want too.

Athletics: I personally have attended college not for the thrill of sports but for the learning experience. On my off nights if I have nothing else to do and want to be out and about I will consider attending a sporting event but would rather spend my time in other ways. Athletics are great, but I would rather do than watch.

Overall Experience: My college experience has had many ups and downs. I have had the best and the worst experiences with both assignments and teachers, but I wouldn't trade any of them for the world. Even the bad experiences that I have endured have shaped the me for the better and I have learned a lot from them. I appreciate all the opportunities given to me by my college.

Overall Experience: There are couple bad professors but over all they all are there to help. The buildings are beautiful, campus life is great, there are over 280 organizations on campus, class sizes are perfect! The courses in my major are slacking a little but other majors have a lot

Overall Experience: The career center helps you with every step, mock interviews, how to dress, resume, they do a lot of events and programs. And they have the "once a seahawk always a seahawk" motto meaning youcan come back to the career center at any time in life and they'll help you

Health & Safety: I have never encountered a situation on campus in which I felt unsafe! None of my peers or friends have to my knowledge either. Wilmington is generally a safe area, and the campus feels non threatening. They have call buttons on campus available if anyone feels unsafe while they are walking on campus, and they have campus police that are often patrolling. My only experience with campus police was when one stopped me to tell me my headlight was out - I did not get penalized, he just wanted to let me know.

Overall Experience: The professors at this school are very interesting people! Most of them know what they are talking about, and are passionate about their subjects. The further a person gets in to their major the easier this becomes to see! The professors on this campus care deeply about student success, and will guide you in getting there however they can. That is not to say that they are all easy, many of the classes are difficult - but I have never been in a classroom setting where I felt that I couldn't reach out to a professor. The courses available offer a wide variety of topics and subjects, and taking them is a good way to broaden ones horizons and learn about all the majors and career paths available.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have not yet been involved in the internship or career seeking process, but I have heard great things about all the resources available. All of my peers who have received internships in Wilmington did so by going through the career center on campus. UNCW offers many career services, and have counselors available to give guidance at any time throughout ones academic careers. Taking advantage of these resources will not lead to disappointment.

Campus Housing: Being a UNCW student, I lived in the on-campus apartments, more specifically in Seahawk Village. I loved Seahawk Villiage - my experience there was very easy. I had a very specious apartment that allowed me to bring all my important stuff from home. My residence adviser was so nice, he was effective in his job without being overbearing. The apartments themselves are very clean, and were in very good condition upon my arrival! I never had an issue with any of my neighbors and had a really good time in the apartment atmosphere! The cost is a little expensive, but with the cost you get a fully furnished apartment with internet and easy access to all other campus facilities.

UNCW offers students a unique, one-of-a-kind university experience, with the combination of its state-of-the-art facilities, well-established programs, location, priority of placing students first, and constant growth. The University is quite young compared to other schools, but it's already ranked right up there along with the best public universities. So much expansion, creation, attention, and credibility has been gained since UNCW's start, and more amazing feats and accomplishments are inevitable for the University's future. Small class sizes, expert professors, and large major varieties bring students of all types to campus. With around 13,000 students total at UNCW, it's the perfect size for those interested in a medium-sized school, and it fosters a unique dynamic. Students have the opportunity to meet someone new every day if they want to, but UNCW is small enough where there is a focus on individual student showcase; students don't have to worry about being lost or overshadowed.

UNCW really gives students all of the tools for success through classes, cultural events, networking opportunities, academic programs, and career developmental training, but it's up to the student to take advantage of these offerings. UNCW can be the perfect fit because of this incredible attention and genuine care for students. The size of the University is right, and the inviting, welcoming atmosphere creates a home for students; everyone can be a part of the University and is encouraged to reach for their aspirations. The campus motto is "Dare to Soar," and UNCW actually means it and follows through with this encouragement. A top choice time and time again, UNCW allows students to go above and beyond just learning in the classroom and makes hands-on, realistic experiences possible. The University is a hidden gem, but is growing every day to gain more national acknowledgement. UNCW is a wonderful place of acceptance and growth, both in the campus and its ambitious students.
