4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Our recreation center is one of the best on the east coast and our facilities are clean, taken care of, and accessible for all students. They are open good hours that fit a student's lifestyle.

Overall Experience: I have grown a lot as a person while my time in college, I have grown in my opinions, in my knowledge of topics and of my identity. I have felt encouraged and well prepared for each class due to the extensive help and academic resources available on campus. There is something to do always, I am never bored and I feel confident about my future and my opportunities in the future.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: There are a variety of courses offered each semester. I really enjoy Physical Education because we are a tight knit group and everyone knows each other. I have ranged from having 7 people in my class to having 35, so it just depends on the class.

Overall Experience: UNCW has now become quite a prestigious university throughout the south east. As for the Physical Education degree, it is does have value; one reason being that there are only a few schools in NC that offer Physical Education.

Health & Safety: You never hear of crime on campus. I always feel safe while on campus and driving around the community.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: I never lived on campus here at UNCW. I have heard that everyone seems to enjoy themselves while living the dorm life.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: Other than going to a few Greek life gatherings, I do not know a whole lot on the Greek life. They seem fun and rewarding, but I have never been interested in joining.

Athletics: The members on the various Seahawk sports teams are some of the best people you could ever meet. Our basketball team made it to the big dance this past year and everyone was very supportive and showed a lot of school spirit. As you walk around campus, no matter what time, there is always sports teams practicing, club teams playing, and or students being active on the intramural fields.

Overall Experience: The past year was my first year at UNCW and it was an amazing experience. I spent my first two years of college playing baseball at a local Junior College. Not only are the students polite and welcoming, my professors were great! It is absolutely terrific that it is only 5 minutes from the beach. I cannot wait to start back again this fall.

Overall Experience: the school was a good school for you to get the basic education and then transfer

3 College Senior

Greek Life: I am not involved in Greek Life

Athletics: Varsity sports don't get enough love at UNCW. Most people are actually more into intramural sports and our club teams.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: UNCW is a great school. It's the perfect size for starters - just big enough to keep things interesting, but small enough to get special attention in class. Plus, it helps that Wilmington is the best city probably ever in the universe.

Overall Experience: My film experiences have been phenomenal, but I have not enjoyed any of my business courses. So I would say it depends on the courses or major you have.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: All majors do really well with setting you up with internships or people locally in the industry that can help you advcnce your career after graduation.

Health & Safety: There are poles with an electric blue light almost everywhere on campus. They are for calling the police in case of an emergency, so they do aim to keep the students feeling safe.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Dorm life was not fun. I did enjoy the social aspects because I met a lot of people, however they were kind of gross and many of those people did not know how to clean after themselves. The on campus apartments were much better. More freedom and more space to be in your element. Living off campus is better than both though, because housing is difficult to deal with in general.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Greeks are pretty cliquish. Many of them are not friends with people outside of their sorority or fraternity. Not all of Greek society has that personality.

3 College Junior

Athletics: There is a lot of school spirit, but people aren't that big into sports. The most spirit I saw was this past year when the basketball team made it into the NCAA.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I would choose my teachers more wisely because they can make or break your academic experience. Academics is why we are there. The social aspect is great and they offer a lot of opportunities for you to meet new people and to get out of your comfort zone, but college can't just be about the social.

Overall Experience: My experience at UNCW is only beginning but it's great. I've enjoyed my classes, professors, the campus, and meeting new people. UNCW is my home. It's so beautiful here and I have no regrets!

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I haven't graduated yet so I'm not sure about this. The career center on campus helps a lot with finding internships and jobs after you graduate or even while you are a student.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: It is safe to walk around campus, even at night. There are emergency call boxes all around campus and there is no where on campus without one in sight. Police arrive super quickly when a button is pushed.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek Life is pretty big here at UNCW, there are several different sororities and fraternities. Like at most schools, non-greeks sometimes think of them as snobby or rude but for the most part they are nice. They do throw a lot of parties off campus that you can attend.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: There are a lot of intramural sports available. There is no football team which is a downer, but EVERYONE participates in our basketball season. We made March Madness this year and everybody lost their minds, it was so exciting!

UNCW offers students a unique, one-of-a-kind university experience, with the combination of its state-of-the-art facilities, well-established programs, location, priority of placing students first, and constant growth. The University is quite young compared to other schools, but it's already ranked right up there along with the best public universities. So much expansion, creation, attention, and credibility has been gained since UNCW's start, and more amazing feats and accomplishments are inevitable for the University's future. Small class sizes, expert professors, and large major varieties bring students of all types to campus. With around 13,000 students total at UNCW, it's the perfect size for those interested in a medium-sized school, and it fosters a unique dynamic. Students have the opportunity to meet someone new every day if they want to, but UNCW is small enough where there is a focus on individual student showcase; students don't have to worry about being lost or overshadowed.

UNCW really gives students all of the tools for success through classes, cultural events, networking opportunities, academic programs, and career developmental training, but it's up to the student to take advantage of these offerings. UNCW can be the perfect fit because of this incredible attention and genuine care for students. The size of the University is right, and the inviting, welcoming atmosphere creates a home for students; everyone can be a part of the University and is encouraged to reach for their aspirations. The campus motto is "Dare to Soar," and UNCW actually means it and follows through with this encouragement. A top choice time and time again, UNCW allows students to go above and beyond just learning in the classroom and makes hands-on, realistic experiences possible. The University is a hidden gem, but is growing every day to gain more national acknowledgement. UNCW is a wonderful place of acceptance and growth, both in the campus and its ambitious students.
