The school is based in an open environment with great scenery during the fall and later spring. The weather is great year round and is filled with live entertainment and music. One of the best takeaways from the university is the difference culture that it is filled with and the student life which revolves like that of a small town; a know everyone kind of basis. The only down side is that in places like the recreation center, more space could be added to help with meeting needs in intermurals, workouts, and swimming space (extracurricular space). In addition, the high number of students incoming for the freshmen has exceeded numbers of that growing population of sophomores from the year before, leaving little commuting spaces for those driving back and forth to classes. Hope to see you guys there bright and early!

I like that you get to know people and aren't just a number here. It's a bit smaller but UNA can be a fun school if you make it that way! I think there are like 7,000 full time students here this year and it's a good school. I have a great time here but the difference is here you cant just expect parties and things to come to you. You need to go meet people! Most people who go here are very friendly and welcoming. I would stay here all 4 years if it were more academically prestigious. Don't get me wrong though, UNA is NOT a joke. If you come here only to play you will fail out at the end of the year just like 30% of other freshman every year. That being said, a UNA degree doesn't hold up with a lot of other colleges nationally if you don't plan on living in the Alabama-Tennessee-Mississippi area because it's more of a regional school. However, I like it here and am sure you will too. If it were more prestigious (which it's actually getting more so every year...) I would stay here all four years.

The University of North Alabama is a great 4 year college right here in the heart of Alabama. They offer so much in way of sports, college life, education and even the area around the campus in Florence and the Shoals is a wonderful place for young people to start their lives! The majority of students seemed very open to tell about their own college thoughts and even how things could be better. Overall the UNA visit was very good and has helped on my decision making!
