Campus Food

Campus Food: It's delicious! Lots of options for everyone, and conscious of allergies and food restrictions.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Food: UNH dining halls were one reason I chose the school. It has everything you could possibly want. My favorites include: stir fry, breakfast sandwich bar, all-day breakfast at Philly (yes, chocolate chip pancakes on request!), their garlic fries (seriously, I have never had fries that were as delicious).

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Good enough, dining halls get old.

5 College Senior

Campus Food: The Food at the University of New Hampshire is absolutely stellar! Three dining halls with great hours, international food, excellent Vegan/Gluten-Free/Allergen-Free options, an outrageous amount of food options, local ingredients, themed eating nights, great non-dining hall locals, and a great value for the prices of meal plan packages.

5 College Junior

Campus Food: There's a reason that UNH is award winning when it comes to dining. Plus it is consistently in the top 20 for college dining in the US. While after a while the dining halls do get boring, you can always find something to eat that will almost definitely be delicious. Plus themed dinner nights are the best (ex. Italian Dinner Night, Toy Story Night, Best Feast, etc.)

UNH Dining Services tries very hard to please as many students as it can and has won numerous awards for its efforts. The students who complain about the UNH campus food selection should realize that dining hall food has to be produced in mass quantity, so in the process of making large amounts of food, many of it may lose some of its flavor, hence the awful reputation that dining hall food has universally received. However, students have a say in how they want their food prepared through "napkin notes.” Students are encouraged to write suggestions and comments on their napkins and place them in a special box at the exit of the three main campus dining halls. Each napkin note is read and responded to via a napkin note board that is placed in the entrance of every dining hall. Many of the students’ concerns and wishes have been accommodated in this way.

While the food can get old on campus, Dining Services also has a “Cat’s Cache” program that allows students to put money on their student ID card, which can, in turn, be used at certain shops downtown to purchase food and many other items. This adds a little variety and excitement to the dining options considering that students aren’t limited to campus grounds when their stomachs start rumbling. Overall, the campus food services genuinely go out of the way to please students.
