Campus Food

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: Hearing people talk about their dining halls makes me appreciate ours way more. I love that they never close during the day so i can go whenever i feel like it. Also they're all really really good and have a lot of options. They also make it easy to eat heathy because on the tags that say what the food is, they give nutrition facts and on a scale of 1-3 how healthy it is. Also the dining hall staff is wicked nice and helpful.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: It is typically very good, though the end of the semester leftovers are gross.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I like the food a lot

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: A wide variety of food is offered. But for those with special diets, it is accomdating, but the selections become repetitive after awhile.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: The dining halls are pretty great on campus, especially Holloway Commons. The menu is varied most of the time and generally has something for everything. The places that I enjoy eating the most are Holloway Commons and Wildkitty. The way my plan works, I am able to spend $325 in dining dollars at different places, I have unlimited access to the dining halls, and I have the ability to get to go boxes and guest passes.

UNH Dining Services tries very hard to please as many students as it can and has won numerous awards for its efforts. The students who complain about the UNH campus food selection should realize that dining hall food has to be produced in mass quantity, so in the process of making large amounts of food, many of it may lose some of its flavor, hence the awful reputation that dining hall food has universally received. However, students have a say in how they want their food prepared through "napkin notes.” Students are encouraged to write suggestions and comments on their napkins and place them in a special box at the exit of the three main campus dining halls. Each napkin note is read and responded to via a napkin note board that is placed in the entrance of every dining hall. Many of the students’ concerns and wishes have been accommodated in this way.

While the food can get old on campus, Dining Services also has a “Cat’s Cache” program that allows students to put money on their student ID card, which can, in turn, be used at certain shops downtown to purchase food and many other items. This adds a little variety and excitement to the dining options considering that students aren’t limited to campus grounds when their stomachs start rumbling. Overall, the campus food services genuinely go out of the way to please students.
