4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: If one doesn't go near downtown at night, the campus feels safe. There are usually people running about in the evening. There are several places where one can call the police, and there is a campus escort.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I have one night class and knowing there is an available police escort service makes me feel very safe. Walking in a group is always a good tip as well as parking close to the class.

Health & Safety: UNR provides a text message, email, radio and intercom system to notify students of any emergency, whether it be weather or crime. I constantly see security personnel such as Reno and UNR campus police officers around campus, on surrounding streets and businesses and apartments that are located close to campus. The campus police station is easy to access and is close to other popular areas on campus.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The University of Nevada Reno takes safety and crime very seriously and address many ways to deal with these kinds of issues

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Whenever I'm walking on campus, I always see campus police or Reno police patrolling around Lombardi or by the Quad. There's also the campus police office in the Fitzgerald building that's very accessible to students if there are problems. As for campus crime, I've only heard of two instances where the campus police informed the students to stay inside and to not go into a certain parking garage because there was a robber in there. The communication that the police have with all the students on campus during an emergency is quick and notifies students and administration quickly and that definitely makes me feel really safe on campus. Also, scattered on campus there are these tall, blue, service kiosks that if you press the button, emergency services will respond to it immediately if a student feels unsafe on campus. As for me, I've never been in a situation where I've felt uncomfortable walking alone on campus. The campus police do an excellent job on making sure students and faculty are safe on campus.
