3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: It's a lot of chain restaurants, but there are plenty of local dining spots that are perfect for getting a bite to eat.

Administration: I have nothing else to compare them too.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: As this is the only financial aid situation I have had, I have nothing to compare it too.

Campus Food: Most of the food upstairs in the Market is okay, but the best food is usually downstairs, but it is much more expensive.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It's not the worst place that I've lived, but for the price I ended up paying, it wasn't the best.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Not where I want to be forever, but not bad for now.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: UNK is a respected school and places in Kearney like to employ grads.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Not terrible for the price, but not very good either.

3 College Freshman

Administration: They care more about our money than anything else.

Guys & Girls: Lots of potential at UNK if there were more activities going on.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a couple of restaurants near campus, and they are relatively cheap. The Mexican restaurants and the daylight donuts are pretty popular, and the prices are not too expensive. They are about average. There is nothing that is too far away. Everything you need is, basically, within walking distance.

Off-Campus Housing: I have lived on campus for my entire career here at the university. I have never once tried to look for an option outside of the campus, so I do not know how easily accessible they are, how cheap or expensive they are, or how close they are to certain businesses and districts. Living on campus, in my opinion, is far more efficient than off, but that is just me.

Party Scene: I am not the type to go out and party. I would much rather remain in my room working on homework or studying. I realize that this makes me sound completely boring, but I take my education very seriously. I am sure that there are plenty of parties being thrown at or around campus, but I do not know what they are, where they are, how often they are thrown, etc. I keep my life clean.

Administration: I worked with campus security for a few years, so I know what happens behind the scenes. There is such a stigma on anyone wearing a uniform these days, but students seem to forget that we are people too. All of the officers who work on campus are really nice people, they care about the students, they will take time to stop and talk to people, and, if they see someone in need, they will not hesitate to stop and help them. Our campus is a dry campus, so alcohol possession is a severe violation. The people here seem to have common sense, so they know better. If they do have alcohol in their dorms, which I am sure they do, they do a good enough job hiding it and not letting it affect their performance outside of their rooms. All in all, the faculty and administration encourages strong academic performance, cracks down on drugs and alcohol, and they do their best to ensure that this campus is as safe as possible.

Academics: I am still not quite sure what I want to do with my life. I have been floating in limbo for quite some time. I did declare a major, so I am just allowing myself to drift along the current to see where that takes me. The people in my department are very cool, very nice, and agreeable. They want to help each student succeed. None seem to be snobbish in nature. I am majoring in communication, so a lot of my assignments and evaluations are spoken orally anymore. While it is quite different than standard test taking, I enjoy speaking all the same. I think the faculty do a great job with the coursework, and none of the classes seem to be outrageously hard or pointless.

Health & Safety: I have been at this school for a couple of years, and I have yet to hear of a serious issue in regards to crime or safety. It is a very safe environment here, and the drug and alcohol usage is kept to a minimum while on campus. If it is used, which I am sure it is, it is used off and away from campus. Sexual assaults are nonexistent here, or if they are, I have yet to hear of it. However, out faculty and staff are very supportive when it comes to topics like that. They are willing to talk and listen, and they will do everything in their power to offer you their support.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: Applying for financial aid is extremely easy, and to receive the financial aid is not a big headache. It is simple, easy, and fast, and anyone can do it.

Campus Food: A lot of people complain about Union food, but personally I think it's pretty good. The union offers a variety of food every day and there's always pizza :)

3 College Student

Party Scene: Lots of fun they always take place off campus. Be safe!

3 College Student

Administration: Campus is pretty chill, but they're sticklers about parking. Also, don't be that guy with drugs or alcohol on campus. It's not responsible, you could end your college career.

3 College Student

Greek Life: I don't know too much about Greek life but it looks like fun.

Health & Safety: There's a health center on campus that can prescribe medicine to you for a flu or a high fever. It's very convenient and also free. There have been a few incidents of crime on or near campus in the previous years but nothing overly alarming. We have posts all over campus that you can push a button on to make a quick call in case you ever need immediate assistance. There's also trained campus police. Free rides back to campus after a long night if you have your student ID on you. Overall, you feel pretty safe on campus.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: There's a subway right next door along with a "Big city Burrito", A thai place, a coffee shop and a Chinese place that's pretty darn good. Theres also a rib shop although that runs a little pricier than the rest of them.

3 College Student

Guys & Girls: Everyone dresses pretty comfortably for classes. Sweatpants and sweatshirts. Lots of extracurricular activities on campus so there are lots of interests.

5 College Student

Majors: You choose your own program (major) and you have corresponding advisers. They're usually very willing to help and always have good advice when you meet with them. Although, how successful you are in the program is completely dependent of the time you put into your classes.
