Mount's small size means that everyone seems to know each other, which can be both good and bad. The downside is that gossip travels fast, and sometimes campus can feel like one big high school, but on the other hand, meeting people is easy because just about everyone has friends in common. Mount students say that their peers are very friendly, so don't be shy about introducing yourself. There's not much to do in the area, so students tend to make their own fun, and the more people you know, the better your social life will be.
The guy-to-girl ratio at Mount Union is about evenly split, so gender-wise, it's a pretty level playing field. Guys are said to be the slightly more attractive gender and are very outgoing, whereas girls are smart and fun. Both genders tend to be athletic and into partying. The social scene isn't exactly thriving at Mount, but both guys and girls are friendly, and it's easy to meet potential dating interests if you get involved on campus and go to a few parties. However, this doesn't seem to result in a lot of serious relationships. Most people date casually or have hookups on campus, or they end up in long-distance relationships with significant others from home or other schools.
