Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Apply for housing early.
  • Be honest about your grades, interests, and goals.
  • Take the ACT and score the best you can.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • College does not teach you how to get a job, or even what jobs are available for your major (liberal arts is a broad field, with no specifics on film, publishing, advertising, or teaching job opportunities).
  • The friends you make freshman year are the friends you're stuck with.
  • The grades earned in college do not matter as much as the internships and jobs you hold during those four years.
  • You automatically pay for gym and Curry Health Center in your tuition, so you might as well utilize these free services.
  • You can take math classes for a pass or fail grade.
Interviews & Information Sessions
The University of Montana hosts prospective students on campus Monday through Friday throughout the entire year, except holidays. Typically, a student can meet with an admissions counselor, take a guided tour of campus, and meet with a faculty member.
Campus Tours
UM Advocates, also known as student ambassadors, give walking tours of campus to prospective students and their families twice each day, at 11:10 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. During the summer and winter breaks, campus tours are offered only once a day.
Overnight Visits
There are no overnight visits for prospective students.
