4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are always cops driving around campus to make sure everything is in line. However, they are not out to get just anyone in trouble for small things, they honestly just want everyone to be safe and have help nearby if they need it.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: There are many courses to choose from. You can pick and choose whether you would like a large class environment or a small class environment. I always have a good mix of both large and small classes. The professors are very approachable for the most part and are very open to your questions about material or anything related to their field of study.

Campus Housing: I live in Defoe-Graham currently. It's fun, but it really depends on who your RA is and who you end up with on your floor. I was disappointed that the doors have to stay closed because it made it a lot harder to make friends. Depending on what dorm you live in, the social atmosphere can vary from poor to excellent. I would say Defoe is just okay with it's social atmosphere. I had to join a freshman interest group to be roommates with my best friend, and I will say that although it helped me make friends, the multicultural issues FIG was one of the biggest headaches and wastes of my time ever.

Greek Life: I am a non Greek student at the University of Missouri. I am pretty indifferent about people who are Greek. I have friends who are Greek, and I also have friends who are non Greek. I feel like girls who are non Greek get by a bit easier in the social scene than boys who are non Greek. I always say, if I were a boy, I would go Greek. That is because boys are very limited in their potential weekend activities if they aren't Greek. Of course I run into sorority girls who are turned off by the fact that I am non Greek, but since there are so many people on campus, it doesn't really bother me. I realize that the chapters do many philanthropic activities and aren't just about having a good time, but the expense to become Greek, as an out of state student, is just unrealistic for my financial means.

Athletics: I think the athletic facilities are incredible, and from what it seems, the athletes are well accommodated to. I am not an athlete at Mizzou, however, if I were I think I would be very pleased with how well they are valued at this school. School spirit is a large staple at Mizzou, it seems.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Mizzou has a simple campus layout, not too big, not too small. However, the campus has beautiful architecture and a lot of character. My peer advisor sends out frequent emails encouraging his subjects to become involved in clubs and to attend seminars and other programs that are related to biology. There are many opportunities for extra help and success in classes. Overall, it seems that the staff wants their students to achieve and do things above and beyond. The only downside to Mizzou is the unnecessary racial divide. I feel that the racial protests divided the students more than brought them together. As I visit other campuses, I find it much easier and more comfortable to communicate with all kinds of people, despite the color of their skin or where they come from. In all honesty, I have never felt so divided from other races until I came to this school. So hopefully with time, the tensions on campus will fade.

Athletics: Seeing how many people get involved and get their friends to play and even come watch is so cool. Seeing Stank field almost every night full of people playing football, soccer or anything is cool to experience and be apart of.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Not being able to apply to my program this year because of a few points off in math is rough but knowing there is still a course of action for me to still follow the same career path and just apply next year is keeping me at Mizzou.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Recently, there was a scandal where Melissa Click, a professor and proponent of ConcernedStudent1950, assaulted a student because they were covering the protests as a part of the press. The university stood behind her. This is not acceptable by any means. This is despicable. No one should feel like assault is acceptable on campus whatsoever, and I'm incredibly disappointed by how they've handled this issue.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Some professors are terrible--they really aren't passionate and don't know how to teach. However, when you have a great, knowledgeable professor, it makes the classes exciting and is one of the best things on campus.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I haven't had the need to seek out career-related services because I work in healthcare already.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms here are pretty beautiful, but it comes at a cost. They're probably twice as expensive as any off-campus housing, and you're not getting the same quality here.

2 College Freshman

Greek Life: You can immediately spot a sorority girl on campus, which is, again, disheartening. You'd think that there would be some sort of individuality, but in the "top" sororities and fraternities, they basically only recruit carbon copies of basic people. I think that a lot of really splendid people have been rejected from Greek life because they don't fit the mold, and I thought that things like this (stereotypes etc) weren't incredibly common, but I was wrong.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Atheletics are basically the most important thing here, which is a little disconcerting.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: This school really doesn't seem right for me. If you're a GDI, you're just another cog in the machine. The university, like so many others, is incredibly greedy, and the only things they properly respond to have to do with the football team because of this. I'm overall a little disappointed with this school, but hopefully I can get my money's worth (even with scholarships) and finish my education here to avoid the painstaking process of transferring schools.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Safety has been an issue with social media threats on the basis of races.

Cops have been present, friends have created a support group, and there are a number of emergency posts across campus.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Courses have been great. I've been able to take a variety of courses and most have been of interest to me. Professors have mostly been energetic and approachable. Many professors have tried to get to know me as more than a student but also as a person.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Alumni network have been difficult. A biochemistry degree should be of high value and be able to get me employed easily. Many professors bring in guest speakers that talk about employment opportunities.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Athlete dorms are farther away. Suite-style dorms were spacious but antisocial. Need on campus apartments that are sponsored as dorms through the university.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Not in Greek life, so I feel left out.

I don't have a bad perception of Greeks, but events are tailor towards Greeks.

Athletics: Only varsity football is a huge deal.

Intermurals are not too popular.

Sports facility, both athlete and nonathlete, are in excellent quality.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The school is unique with all of the programs. Greek life does dominate the campus and it is hard to feel involved if not greek. More on campus housing options should be available.

I would still go to another school because of the weather.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Its a pretty safe campus overall. The only times ive heard of problems with safety is when people are drinking.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Im not completely sure what i want to do yet so its hard to say but i think my degree will be pretty valueable one i get my masters along with it.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Overall my professors have been pretty good. One criticism i have is if a grad student is teaching a class, they need to be able to teach affectively and accommodate to help the students learn.

Mizzou offers so much to its students that it is hard not to fall in love with the school. The school provides many internships through your major and different work-study opportunities dealing with specific career paths. The difficulty of the classes and the toughness of professors prepare students for work outside of school. MU is unique because it gives students so many opportunities; whether you would like to be a football star or a vet, it offers both and everything in between.

If students had to go back and redo their college application process all over again, Mizzou would still end up being many students' choice. MU offers students a lot of opportunities to advance their career paths, minds, and friendship circles. The school has provided students with everlasting experiences and knowledge.
