4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: For the most part, the people I meet are all unique and great in their own ways. There are quite a few stuck up, entitled people at this school who I definitely do not mesh well with at all, but there are enough down to earth, intelligent people to balance that.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Many people feel open to express their own styles and choices as far as their appearance goes. People are comfortable being themselves, which is great. There are many opportunities for people with all different experiences and goals to find friends and social opportunities.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There is a lot of focus on appearances and styles and looks, and people are easily judged if in the wrong community. however, there are also welcoming communities. Once you find your niche you are okay

Student Author OverviewWhat's this?

View student contributors
With the University's diverse student body, it's nearly impossible to clump every Michigan student into one ranking. Students range in style, interests, and of course, looks. If you're seeking a relationship, chances are you'll find the person you’re looking for. Due to Michigan's cold weather, many students drown in oversized sweatshirts to keep warm. On the weekends, however, regardless of temperatures, girls will sport their most flattering shirts and skirts, boys often dressing in jeans and T-shirts. Overall, however, there is no single "type" of person at Michigan. Students find that joining clubs and organizations is the best way to meet people who share your interests.

Hookups or Relationships?
For the most part, serious relationships aren't all that common on Michigan's campus. The ongoing hookup is common, but relationships at UM never seem to advance much beyond that. Of course, there are people that have serious relationships, and people do couple off, but mostly, it's just big groups of friends going out together.
Dress Code
Basic casual attire is best. There are a lot of artsy students that do not wear name-brand clothing.
Did You Know? has a hotness scale for many of the instructors at U of M.
