Off-Campus Housing: Most of the off campus apartment or co ops are pretty good, almost all of them have facilities such as fitness or study room. People party less than the dorm. However the rent might be a bit expensive for housing with good facilities on central campus, but cheaper up north campus.

Party Scene: Nightlife in Ann Arbor is an amazing experience. There is always something going on. At night there are many places that students choose to go to, but at the same time the University also has many different programs and an amazing Residence Staff that plans events for students as well if going out isn't something you are interested in.

Drug Safety: Drugs at the University of Michigan are not a common occurence. I have not seen any instances of drug problems on campus. The entire University of Michigan also has a non smoking policy.

Administration: The policies at the University of Michigan are uphelp very strongly. However fist time instances are usually undestood. Repeat offenders however are disciplined. So if messing up once doesn't teach you a lesson you're bound to get caught again, and it may not be a position you want to be in.

Academics: So far the classes I've had have been great. The professors are very knowledgeable and love what they do. The workload is what I expected from college, so there were no surprises. However, the registration process is terrible. Its quite frustrating getting into a class you want or need. Depending on when you registration date is, you may not be able to take classes that you need for your major unless you can get an override.

Campus Food: It all depends on which dining hall you eat at. Some dorms are better than others. Mojo has the most variety, North Quad has very small portions, Markley has a make your own pizza station, and Bursley has a make your own taco station. It all depends on what you like. However, restaurants in Ann Arbor are the best. There is so much to choose from. Most places will deliver to your dorm, which is awesome!

Campus Quality: My school has so many clubs and organizations to choose from. There is literally something for everyone, and I love that. I am currently a member of Circle K. It is one of the best organizations and has the most wonderful people in it. Circle K is just one of the many organizations our there. Everyone always said there was so much to do at UofM, but I didn't realize the extent until I lived it myself. It is a great campus to live on!

Local Area: Ann Arbor is the bomb dot com. There are so many restaurants and you'll never run out of things to do. It is literally the best college town in the world.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Partying is popular especially on game days and weekends. Drinking is more popular than smoking but you can definitely find weed without looking too far.

5 College Senior

Transportation: The university bus system is very reliable and FREE for everyone, not just students. The city of Ann Arbor also has a bus system that is very reliable and FREE for students that use their ID card.

Off-Campus Dining: Such a GREAT variety. So many local cuisines and original flavors for a small town feel.

5 College Senior

Local Area: Ann Arbor is one of the most culturally aware, ecologically aware cities in Michigan. It has a lively college atmosphere with great restaurants and art and music. It is also a very family friendly town with lots of resources for outdoor activities and healthy living.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Many choices to choose a major and you can even design your own.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Ann Arbor lacks in parking spots. Bring one with you.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Central campus has many "blue lights" but elsewhere they are lacking. Campus feels very safe but off campus one may need to be smarter about their surroundings.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Ann Arbor has lots of off campus housing but your GPA tends to be higher if you live on campus. Also traffic and parking are issues.

1 College Freshman

Parking: Need permit to park anywhere. Permits reserved for graduate students and upperclassmen.

2 Recent Alumnus

Administration: It needs to be more strict. Currently people get away with MIPs all the time and I personally think that they should be busted.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: It's Michigan. In the summer it's hot and in the winter it's cold. Once in a while the weather is bad but it's never THAT bad.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I'm planning on going premed with a major in biology and it's very competitive here. There are a ton of students going premed.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The University of Michigan definitely lives up to the hype as far as academics go. Even as a first-year student, many of my professors have been world-leaders in their field of study and are incredible to learn from. U of M offers classes in just about anything you could be interested in, and all are sure to be a great experience. I took a History of Art class just for fun and fell in love with the field! So as far as academics go, you really can't go wrong with UMich. It is one of the best public institutions in academics, and grad schools and employers recognize that.

Athletics: Obviously I'm going to tell you GO BLUE! Even though our football team hasn't been perfect recently, the energy level at the games is crazy and it's definitely something you have to experience as an undergrad. Our basketball team is in the top 5 in the country, and hockey games are pretty fun as well. Also, the rivalry with Ohio State is possibly one of the best parts of sports at UM. You can also get involved with IM sports!

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Ann Arbor is full of restaurants and good food. Twice a year there is also "restaurant week" during which you can go around to many of the best, and most expensive restaurants and try them out for relatively low prices (esp at lunch times). But Ann Arbor is full of great food. There are also many cheaper restaurants close to campus: potbelly's, noodes and co, chipotle, panera, jimmy johns, etc.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Going to the games (especially football and basketball) is extremely popular and fun! Ann Arbor really comes alive (and crowded) on football Saturdays but it is awesome to be a part of that experience!

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I typically do not feel unsafe on campus. Be smart (don't walk alone in obscure areas at night girls) and you should be fine! Some theft, but that is typical of most universities.
