4 College Junior

Health & Safety: UM offers a lot of public transportation that promotes safety on campus and around the city.

Off-Campus Dining: Ann Arbor has a great mix of restaurants and food options.

College Junior

Party Scene: I haven't experienced the nightlife at this school yet.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: UM is like a miniature melting pot, with several different looks and interests throughout the student culture.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking on campus is a literal nightmare and is very expensive. I would avoid bringing a car if you are living on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The student life on campus is pretty good, the rec buildings are alright, the study areas are pretty good, and the libraries are well stocked for student needs.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The technology is usually up to date and functioning around campus. The buildings are usually hit or miss - the school is renovating constantly because they need to, but the newer buildings are very nice.

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining options are very convienient. There are a variety of options ranging in prices and food options. Although, there are not many student discounts at nicer restaurants.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing selection at school is pretty great. Most of the off-campus housing is done through the school and is relatively reasonble pricing. The only large flaw is the safety.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The drug scene in Ann Arbor is relatively big, although it is not something that I am really involved with. Drinking is a more popular activity.

Campus Housing: I would have loved living on campus if I did not live on North Campus. Living on North Campus is lonely and it is hard to get places on the weekends. Waiting for the buses all the time in the cold is miserable and if you miss them it is even worse!

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I wasn't at a dorm but the apartments on campus have a great variety and are pretty good!

5 College Senior

Academics: The phrase that was used to describe academics at U of M and that applies still. The world is your oyster.

5 College Senior

Academics: Lets be honest. The University of Michigan is one of the greatest schools in the US hands down.

3 College Senior

Campus Food: It has been some time since I have eaten at the university 'food service'
But it was good but nothing out of the ordinary for good caf. food.

Scholarships: The University of Michigan is very willing to hand out loans like there is no tomorrow. However, the interest rates are through the roof. I just graduated with my Bachelors and am continuing education to get my Masters (both at UofM) and I already owe upwards of $3000 in interest. While applying for financial aid/scholarships through the school that I wouldn't have to pay back, they didn't offer me a dime. Even though I literally had $150 in my bank account when I applied. They wrote me an email explaining that there are many other people facing financial hardships and my situation didn't seem as though I needed the aid as badly... It is kind of sad considering they have enough money to renovate every dorm every three years but they cant help their (in state!) students get through college relatively debt-free.

Majors: I'm going into the School of Social Work in the fall and have already gotten my placement. The School of Social Work was so accomodating in helping me find a field placement that was perfect for me. They held field placement fairs where I could walk around and talk to over 50 different establishments and really get a feel for what each of them was like. Also, the Career Services helped me greatly in applying to the placement. I got my first choice and I am so excited to start in the fall.

Diversity: There is diverse in all areas at UM. You have opportunities to step outside your comfort zone to grow as a person. I do not feel pressured regarding diversity; I believe tolerance is key.

Drug Safety: Students have more access to alcohol rather than drugs. Most students want to succeed in their course work and graduate. I don't do drugs but I know students who smoke weed.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: UM is currently renovating dorms. During my freshman year, I lived in a newly renovated dorm and I enjoyed it. For my sophmore year, I will be living in a dorm specifically designed for sophmores called "The Sophmore Experience." I am looking forward to it.

Transportation: The university has its own bus system which the students can use for free but the students also get free access to the city's bus system, so you aren't limited to just the campus. There are tons of taxis driving around waiting for students to need them and there are also zipcars that students can borrow for the day. A lot of students ride bikes, scooters, or skateboards. Students can bring their own cars as well but it's best not to deal with having to park them.

Local Area: The campus is located right next to/in downtown Ann Arbor which is full of shops, restaurants, cafes, and museums. The school throws all sorts of events on campus and off campus so no one is ever bored. Most of the town is college students and the locals are so used to them that there are never any problems.

Majors: I have never had an internship, as they are difficult to find as a language major.

3 College Junior

Majors: I'm in LSA as a double major in French and Spanish. The language professors are wonderful if you take the time to meet with them outside of class and establish a relationship. There is a lot of homework and Friday classes are very typical. There are also few intership opportunities for language students.

Academics: The psychology program at the University of Michigan is great! There are a variety of different psychology classes you can take. For example there is educational psychology, psychopathology, developmental psychology, biopsychology, etc. Many people major in some sort of psychology at the University of Michigan so sometimes it's hard to differentiate yourself from the crowd, but there are many opportunities to meet with instructors and separate yourself from the crowd.

Whether they are looking for academics, athletics, or social outlets, Michigan fits the bill: In addition to its highly-ranked academics, it has a highly respected athletic reputation, and Ann Arbor's atmosphere is one to be envied, consisting of restaurants, shops, bars, and much more. Michigan alumni are expansive in both numbers and location. Michigan's alumni network is one of the largest, with many individuals holding vital positions in their respective industries.
