4 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food on campus is great. The only thing is that after eating at the same places for 8 months, it can get boring but I dot think that is any different at other colleges. I loved he many dining halls and variety offered.

Campus Housing: I love where I lived for my freshman year of college. It was so nice and it was very modern and updated. I got exactly what I needed for my comfort level and I wouldn't have wanted to live anywhere else.

Off-Campus Housing: Ann Arbor is an expensive place to live so expect to pay quite a bit for off-campus housing. However, there is a nice variety in terms of apartment complexes and houses for rent and a variety in terms of location. You can find a place close to whatever you want (athletics, classes, city). Prices are cheaper the further you go and there's ample public transport. Quality will also vary by landlord and location so pay attention and tour before you sign a lease.

Off-Campus Dining: Ann Arbor is a great place for variety and unique food option. You've got your basic late night fast food options, nicer restaurants, bar food, lots of ethnic food and some superb local legends (Blimpy Burger, Fleetwood Diner, ZINGERMAN'S). Prices will vary depending on where you're going but you'll never go hungry.

Party Scene: UofM has a totally great social scene. The bar life is fantastic with a ton of options. There are a variety of student based bars and you are also really close to some higher end or more unique city bars. There are always parties going on and football tailgating is insane.

Administration: I've never had any issue with policy strictness. Worse thing would probably be parking on campus/in the city. Parking tickets are very common if you aren't paying attention to where/when you're parking. Don't be stupid and you won't get in trouble. I've known some people to get MIPs but it's not really an issue if you're smart about it.

Scholarships: For my undergraduate career my parents handled most of my financial issues but it was never difficult to work with the office or receive financial aid via FAFSA.

Campus Food: I never had a problem with the campus food, other than maybe late night hours since that my preferred snack time. The in-hall cafes are great and the blue bucks and dining dollars come in handy. Mojo and North Quad are probably the best dining halls. Blue Apple and the Victors are the best in-hall cafes.

Campus Housing: Even though dorm living is not always optimal I found the atmosphere of the University of Michigan to be great experience. The campus is unique because the city of Ann Arbor is interspersed with the campus and dorms are located throughout the campus not in just one location. All of the dorms have been systematically renovated in the past few years. The social atmosphere of the university, in general, is amazing and that continues in campus housing.

A basic run down:

East Quad: home to the residential college, most central to main campus

West Quad: home to many of the athletes, attached to the union. Proximal to State Street.

South Quad: Next door to West Quad, close walk to athletic campus

North Quad - Newest Res Hall, best dining hall

Bursley: North Campus Dorm, Great In-Hall Cafe: The Blue Apple (or Blapple)

Mosher-Jordan - Home to Hill Dining Center and Hill Area of Campus (close to Rec Building and Rec Fields)

Mary Markley - Largely Freshman Dorm, very social

Alice Lloyd- Hill Complex Res Hall close to Medical Campus and Angelo's (best brunch in town)

Couzens- Hill Complex close to Medical Campus and Angelo's

Party Scene: I never had any trouble finding a party any night of the week.

Administration: They are lenient when they should be but they also can be tough.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: i did non apply for financial aid so i cannot say whether it was good or bad.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: I believe that there should be longer hours in some dining halls.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of houses and apartments in Ann Arbor, but you need to start looking the second you get on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: SO many options and very close to campus.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Mostly greek related, which can be a hassle especially if you have guy friends. As an upper classman you usually go to bars.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Everyone is there to keep you safe and not take away from the experience.

Scholarships: Took a little while, and i believe i should have received more financial aid, but its not terrible

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Bursley isn't great, but South and East Quad are great and so is Mojo.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: North Campus isn't as bad as people assume. Yes, it's a little far from central if most of your classes are there, but it's a beautiful area. The NCRB is right outside your door. It also creates a good separation between classes and home.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Ann Arbor is home to some of the best restaurants out there - you will definitely find a few places that you absolutely adore!

4 College Freshman

Administration: University of Michigan is dedicated to providing a safe environment for many students, and is able to achieve this as a result of enforcing many administration policies.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: Campus food is pretty delicious - lots of options, especially for those who only eat Vegetarian or Halal. App on smartphones also provides easy access to all dining hall menus.
