5 College Freshman

Academics: The University of Michigan is ranked within the top universities in the world! It's a privilege to work and learn with great students, and be under the tutelage of such great professors.

4 College Freshman

Academics: The workload is, of course, difficult. Practice AND school work is what makes being a music/music ed major difficult. The teachers are globally recognized as leaders of their fields, and always willing to help a student when he or she needs it.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are crime alerts released by the police departments whenever there is a criminal activity in the area or on campus. Help is always available, and the ways to get it are numerous.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: Dorm food is dorm food. Many students will eat campus dining frequently throughout the week and supplement it with the great variety of off-campus dining in the city.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs are definitely available to any student who wants them, but students aren't pressured to do anything they don't want to. It's an accepting community of non-users and users alike.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: The music building, which is where most of my classes are, is a little under par in comparison to the surround north campus and central famous, but it is well-maintained and under renovation.

Campus Quality: There's nothing like a Michigan football Saturday. Beyond that, the athletic and student centers, libraries, actives and hangouts are innumerable and the choices for students are greatly varied.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I didn't receive any financial aid, so I wouldn't know how the process works.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: A little bit pricy for the regular college student, but the variety is excellent.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: There's always something to be done in Ann Arbor. Whether it be football games, food, social activities, or musical venues, Ann Arbor is always supporting its students.

Greek Life: Already a stabbing incident, a racial discrimination incident, yeah, it's bad.

Scholarships: Scholarships is probably the rarest and hardest way of obtaining money. FAFSA and federal aid is your most available.

Campus Food: Like any dining hall, you get used to it and tired of it. But, still, dining food here is never what I am disgusted about.

Local Area: The restaurants aren't bad. North Campus is pretty quiet, so if you prefer to study in quiet dorms, live up north.

Guys & Girls: Everyone's attractive and super friendly!

Campus Housing: Awesome people and great food!

Administration: I personally think the strictness is at an appropriate amount. The campus police tend to be more accepting than the city police, but both will give students a break and will be harsh when needed.

Parking: The city of Ann Arbor is not known for having good parking. Most of it is parallel parking and fees include about $4 an hour. For longer stays there are parking structures that students may use. I have heard that for underclassman/students living in dorms parking passes are harder to come by and you may have to move your car every so often. Also, freshman are generally not allowed to have a car on campus.

Diversity: One reason I love the University of Michigan is because of the diversity. Most people are extremely accepting of others views and opinions can be openly expressed without a problem.

Drug Safety: I said "it's okay" because there are safety precautions in place but usage is still abundant. There are online drug and relationship safety programs that are required for students to take.

Campus Housing: Many of the dorms are being renovated, so they are bigger, nicer and modern. Also, many of them have laundry facilities, workout rooms, kitchenettes, and computing sites.

Weather: Its Michigan! The weather can be hot one minute and cold the next. It tends to be colder in Ann Arbor than the surrounding cities, but if you bundle up, then you can stay warm.

Despite the occasional complaints about weather, students at the University of Michigan love their school. With its outstanding academics in conjunction with its remarkable athletics, Michigan offers a perfect college balance: a great education and a fun social atmosphere. It is not uncommon to find students sporting Michigan gear around campus, and if given a choice, most would choose the school over again. Students love that they can mold their school to best suit their individual needs and desires. Whether they are looking for academics, athletics, or social outlets, Michigan fits the bill: In addition to its highly-ranked academics, it has a highly respected athletic reputation, and Ann Arbor's atmosphere is one to be envied, consisting of restaurants, shops, bars, and much more. Michigan alumni are expansive in both numbers and location. Michigan's alumni network is one of the largest, with many individuals holding vital positions in their respective industries. Alumni love to return to Ann Arbor for visits and sporting events, often bringing their spouses and children. It has been said, "Once a Wolverine, always a Wolverine."
