Campus Housing: I made the mistake of living on North Campus, and apartment-style at that, as all my classes are on central campus, however, I have spent a lot of time in many of the residence halls and it is truly an amazing thing to experience. There is such a strong sense of community in the dorm life. Everyone knows each other and it is a very effective way of making friends quickly. In Northwood however, the sense of community is lacking a little as we are so divided from one another and you do not often see your neighbors, especially in the winter when no one wants to be outdoors. However, there are still many event in place to help us branch out and get to know one another, but the community life is much stronger in the dorms and I highly recommend that incoming freshman choose dorm life.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many amazing off-campus housing options at U of M. There are condos, houses, apartments, real anything you could imagine. Rent is relatively affordable for the area and many of the locations closest to campus have nothing but the finest accommodations to offer including being fully furnished and on-site parking.

Greek Life: I personally have not experienced much of the greek life as it has never had too much of an appeal to me. That said, I have heard nothing but great things from people who are active participants in it. Granted there are some people who think that Greeks are "snobby" or "cliquey" but this is true of non-Greeks as well and it's not fair to make that generalization about a group of people. I have never had an issue with anyone in Greek Life and I even have many friends who participate in it. They all thrive academically, which is no easy accomplishment, especially for some of the long nights they have.

Health & Safety: Not once since my start at this university have I felt unsafe. Even walking back to North Campus at two in the morning, I still felt secure as the streets are well lit, and there's always an emergency blue light phone around if I were ever in need of help. The U-M crime alert system is very efficient in getting the word out about certain crimes that do take lace on campus so that students can take extra precaution in certain areas. Overall, the school does a fantastic job at providing a safe and secure environment, which is not an easy task to do in such an urban setting like Ann Arbor.

Athletics: U of M has phenomenal athletics and even better fans. Students are out at every game showing their loyalty and support for their players. We've even broken a record for largest attendance at a college football game totaling 115,109 fans attending the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game this past September, and I was lucky enough to have been one of the members in the crowd. It's truly an amazing atmosphere to be a part of and I could't be more proud of my school's athletic department.

Academics: I think the academics here are great. Once you declare a major you become part of a group that you can get to know people well in, and the university tries to get you involved with jobs or organizations for your major. All of the professors are more than willing to help you.

Campus Food: Personally, I like our dining halls, but others have less enthusiasm than me. I like all of the choices we have.

Local Area: I love the local atmosphere here. There are students everywhere and many little shops to go to. You can find basically anything you are looking for in the surrounding area, and you can tell there is an ethnically diverse population living here.

Off-Campus Housing: It seems like there are many options for students to live off campus, and there are ways the university can also help a student find off campus housing.

Weather: Today we started with thunder, then snow, then hail, and finally rain. Campus is a slushy mess.

Health & Safety: UHS is right on the bus routes and easy to go to.

Local Area: There is Central Campus for people who like busy city life, and North Campus for those who like a more remote area.

Academics: One of the top schools in the world for academics. Very challenging but very rewarding

Academics: The curriculum is good, the workload can be heavy at sometimes, but it's still manageable. Job opportunities are everywhere.

Weather: The weather is beautiful in the fall. I like when the snow begins to fall, but after awhile I don't want it around anymore. It's so cold to walk to class, everyone is sick of the winter weather.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: There are buses and taxis everywhere. The closest airport is Detroit, and it can take awhile to get there with traffic. I have no idea where the nearest train station is. Having a car would be difficult because there is no place to park it.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: If you're out alone at night, you can call SafeRide, and they will come pick you up, and take you where you need to go. Most of the buses run until 2 a.m. You hear about crime, but most of it is off-campus.

Athletics: Our school has the best school spirit. Everyone looks forward to Football Saturdays. All of our teams do really well, and everyone supports them.

Despite the occasional complaints about weather, students at the University of Michigan love their school. With its outstanding academics in conjunction with its remarkable athletics, Michigan offers a perfect college balance: a great education and a fun social atmosphere. It is not uncommon to find students sporting Michigan gear around campus, and if given a choice, most would choose the school over again. Students love that they can mold their school to best suit their individual needs and desires. Whether they are looking for academics, athletics, or social outlets, Michigan fits the bill: In addition to its highly-ranked academics, it has a highly respected athletic reputation, and Ann Arbor's atmosphere is one to be envied, consisting of restaurants, shops, bars, and much more. Michigan alumni are expansive in both numbers and location. Michigan's alumni network is one of the largest, with many individuals holding vital positions in their respective industries. Alumni love to return to Ann Arbor for visits and sporting events, often bringing their spouses and children. It has been said, "Once a Wolverine, always a Wolverine."
