Transportation: A lot of the time the apps to tell you the times for the university buses are completely wrong and you'll end up just missing your bus or waiting another 10-15 minutes. There's not enough buses that cover South Campus, or enough stops. The city buses are pretty good but they stop running at kind of weird times so always check for that so you don't get stranded somewhere. Night ride is available, but only from university locations like the library or whatever. The ann arbor cabs are relatively reliable, though there's quite a few services so I'm not sure if that applies to all of them.

Party Scene: Almost always something going on party-wise, and if not there's plenty of bars around town. Night transportation could be better, but they've been improving.

Off-Campus Housing: Everything will be overpriced. If you're not paying over $400/month then you either got extremely lucky or you're sharing a bedroom with someone. Or almost completely off campus. It's very hard to find student housing that hasn't been trashed by the person before and it's hard to tell how good your landlord is actually going to be until its too late. You've basically got to sign your lease for the following year a year in advance, it's obnoxious. Off-campus housing is a commodity in Ann Arbor and they love to suck students dry.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Diversity still is and will continue to be an issue at this school.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Campus is really integrated into downtown Ann Arbor, even if you don't want to hang out at a facility there's always plenty places nearby to waste time.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Obviously depends on the type of people you're hanging around as far as how hard of a drug you see getting used. Weed is extremely common place in Ann Arbor, any where on campus or affiliated with on campus you should be much more careful about drug use. The campus regulations are much more strict than the city police especially in the case of marijuana.

Weather: It's Michigan. You'll find out.

Off-Campus Dining: You could fulfill any craving you possibly have in or around Ann Arbor. There's a nice range as far as price goes as well, though I haven't run into too many places that offer student discounts unless if its a special occasion.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: They're very good at handling basic financial aid, but unless if you are some god among men I wouldn't expect any scholarships beyond that to fall into your lap without any effort.

Local Area: Ann Arbor is an incredible college town, there's lots of events between the city and the university, but ann arbor does a lot on its own regardless.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Depending on which dorm you live in, or if you live off campus, the whole strictness level could be completely different in these places. It's nice because it gives you a chance to find the environment that best fits you.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: A very big part of campus, but since it's a big 10 school they almost focus on it too much.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: Ann Arbor is an amazing city, just parking is a hassle.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The school provides little financial aid

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Every college campus will be strict against alcohol and drug use.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Most Greek students are okay, others are stereotypical

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: High prices and poor facilities.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The Michigan Amnesty laws for underage drinkers is great

Weather: Michigan weather. It is extremely bi-polar and unpredictable.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Pretty good diversity all around in terms of ethnicity. Politically it is mostly liberal though.

Athletics: The University of Michigan has some of the greatest players and fans out there. My only complaint is that our teams aren't consistent. Great teams and players though.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Basically our 900+ clubs available to students. There really is something for everyone to get involved in which helps students feel welcome on campus.

4 College Freshman

Technology: Computer labs are everywhere, printer are everywhere, wifi is everywhere (although it can be slow at times) however having your own laptop would make life easier, at the University of Michigan I could see how you could survive without a laptop because of everything they make available to you. The only hard thing is that everyone who is not an engineer only gets 400 pages to print per semester, and while it seems like a lot, you go through it really quickly.

3 College Freshman

Weather: During the winter it is pretty awful, especially this year since it was so cold. However during the warmed months, you can really see the change on campus where a lot of people are outside and enjoying the sunshine and it is just the best to see everyone out and about.

Transportation: Just use the blue busses. They are free and can get you really close to where you need to go. Also the RIDE busses are free for UM students and again, can basically get you really close to anywhere off campus you need to go. Just learn how to use them early on and getting around campus will be a breeze.
