4 College Sophomore

Local Area: Everyone is usually friendly. Most people living there are students, but there are also locals. The restaurants and businesses seem to treat locals and students the same.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: One of the best schools in the country for academics. Challenging, but rewarding.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: The buses are usually pretty reliable. I lived on North Campus last year and the longest I waited for a bus was 25 minutes.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Meter and ramp parking. Better to just ride the bus.

Administration: School policies don't usually interfere with student academic or social lives unless others are harmed or something illegal is being done. They're just there to help regulate the flow of students and visitors and help the university function at its best.

Technology: Computer labs are found everywhere on campus and they're always reliable to use. Sometimes computers run out during semester crunch time so be sure to bring your own computer with you and you will easily find a studying spot nearby. The wireless network is easy to access and from my experience, it has always been fast and reliable.

Athletics: The Athletic scene at Michigan is very important. The football team is a source of pride for all students, the football games are a must-see because the school spirit celebrations are so fun to join.

Scholarships: My experience with receiving financial aid was easy and smooth. I applied to federal aid and received it about a month after applying. I also received a scholarship from the school of architecture itself which was merit-based. I'm generally happy with the financial aid process.

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining is the best type of dining. There's so much variety to choose from, both in terms of the kind of food and the price. Central campus has the widest variety and they are all walking distance. There are the food chain options and the one-of-a-kind options. Unfortunately, there are no student discounts although having that would boost restaurant profit. Some of the best places to check out are Mani's Osteria for the best pizza, Frita Batido's for Cuban cravings, and Gandy Dancer's Sunday brunch!

Local Area: The school has different campuses that are about 15 minutes away from the center. Central campus is the best place to be; there are many fun dining, shopping, and studying options. There are many historical buildings on campus that are really inspiring to visit or study in. Also, the fall and late spring are the best times to be outdoors, whether you are out canoeing with friends or reading your favorite book. Some of the area attractions are the university art museum, the museum of natural history, the "Diag" in front of the graduate library, and more.
