Overall Experience: The school is really diverse and students and professors are friendly and helpful. I have learned a lot at this school.

Overall Experience: This school is a great community for anyone who is willing to put the effort in and make the best of the college. I love the hundred of clubs there is to choose from, so there's virtually anything to get involved in, and if there isn't there are ways to start a new club and find other people who enjoy doing the same things as you. The gym is one of my favorite places on the campus, it's always very lively and people are always striving to better themselves on any of the machinery or with the several private exercise rooms. The school helps to accommodate commuting students and tries to keep students on campus by making spaces for people to do group work or stick together on campus, such as the 6th floor of the library. I would choose this school over lots of other school's anyway because it's a hidden gem in Boston. While you're not in the middle of the city, being on the peninsula provides you with some exclusive views of the harbor walk and the planes coming and going out of our very own Logan Airport. Not only that, but it seeks out independent students who are willing to work hard and commute or work hard for an apartment near campus, seeing as there are dorms still in the process of being built. Even the construction is a refreshing sight to see, because you know there's so much potential radiating through the campus.

Health & Safety: People smoke and drink right on the main campus and security is never there to do anything about it. Sometimes when I see someone acting suspicious i assume they've got a weapon.

Overall Experience: Will be transferring to a school that values me as a person and as student.

Campus Housing: No financial aid will pay for your housing. The school makes sure of that.

2 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: Ive never had the opportunity to enter a frat

3 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: The gym is up to date but in an inconvenient location. Smells. But the athletic department has a wide range of different courses you could take if you wanted...like Multicultural dance.

Overall Experience: Classes are only eye opening on the surface. Material usually goes to very shallow depths and doesn't play well into the major of choice.

The administration--specifically the office of undergraduate studies is very anti-social and would prefer it if they didn't haveto take care of any student issues. The advisors will rarely contact you about anything as they have about 100 advisees each.

Smoking cigarettes and marijuana are very common on campus.

The school does not provide dorms, yet they have many apartment complexes nearby that are utilized as such -- and are overpriced to the max.

I would reccomend this school to someone who already has a Bachelor degree and is going back for a Master or PhD but as for those who are undergrads, the school will not value you as a person. You are just another bit of income paying for the new 50 Million dollar buildings.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The school is very good overall, but i don't feel like i am welcomed as much since the school is so big. I don't feel heard.

2 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There aren't many internships offered for my degree.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Health safety is enforced on campus, it is made aware and enforced that nothing of that nature will be tolerated.

2 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I don't see any type of greek life in the campus, it doesn't really stick out like some other things.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I am not really interested in the athletic aspect of this school because I am not pursuing a degree of any sort related to sports.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Overall the school has challenged me. I have felt very stressed with juggling classes and work, but i manage everything when doing so.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The professors are very understanding and willing to help. Their classes have fair setups and students earn the grades true to the amount of effort they put in.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I don't know much about this yet, but the school hosts a lot of events for students with networking purposes. There are a lot of opportunities available both on and off campus hosted by the school to help with student needs.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I generally have never had a problem or heard of anyone having a problem concerning safety on campus.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Again haven't participated or tried to join, but I have been recruited a few times.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I haven't had much time to visit the athletic center but I have heard great thing regarding it.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: So far my college experience has been phenomenal. Not only am I on track and doing well academically, but also am achieving many of my dreams. This past year I was selected to participate in a free exchange program with Glasgow Scotland, and was able to travel there for free. This experience taught me the community ideals and cultures of Scotland as well as the differences between European and American academic systems. It was an experience of a life-time.

4 College Student

Health & Safety: I have never felt threatened on campus. They have security put in place, cameras, and metal detectors. Teachers are very vigilant. I always feel safe on and around campus.

4 College Student

Overall Experience: UMASS offers many jobs on and off campus to students. They also provide internships, work study, and training in fields students are looking to be in. With help and access from experienced workers finding information has become easier and students are able have a higher success rate in their job search.

3 College Student

Athletics: Athletics are a huge part of UMASS Boston. The students take pride in their sports teams, coming to games and showing school spirit by supporting the Beacons Athletics. Not only do they support their peers in competition, the gyms and athletics facilities are filled with students who also enjoy athleticism.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: A lot of professors are very great and passionate about their studies, however, there are a few professors who are not very passionate or helpful at all.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: There are extensive resources for jobs and internships.
