The University of Maryland Eastern Shore gathers some of the most diversified students in the world on its campus. The average student cannot really be called “average” because most students here are beyond that. The one similarity found among UMES students is their desire to graduate with a great education.

There are more female students than male students at the University, which does create less choice for the women and greater options for the guys when it comes to dating. But, UMES has a great amount of variation among its students, and all students seem to connect in different ways. As students advance in their college career, they will likely find that the majority of their friends share the same major, which is natural since this is who you’ll have a majority of your classes with. It is also true that roommates—even from completely different backgrounds—will connect and grow to become the best of friends. This occurs despite their cultural differences and is based upon their experiences together at UMES.

Social Scene
Students at UMES are very outgoing. In each class, everyone gets acquainted with one another and becomes friendly throughout the course. They will often help one another out in the various classes, as well. There are few fights despite the diversity among students-people from different backgrounds and nationalities seem to find it easy to get together and party.
Hookups or Relationships?
The dating scene at UMES is similar to that of any college in the United States. Some students find their significant other on campus, whereas others participate in random hookups. However, remember that whichever course you engage in can affect your reputation on campus. The key is to be safe and know the company you keep before you commit emotionally and/or sexually.
Dress Code
Students at UMES usually dress very fashion-forward-every day is a fashion show on campus. Many students come from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area, but there are also students from all over the United States and world. Each area has its own unique style, which translates into the clothes UMES students wear. Morning classes really the only time you will see students with scarves or sweatpants on. When going to classes throughout the rest of the day, to lunch, or parties, students are fresh with their clothes.
