3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: They can change the showers in the dorms but other than that the dorm rooms are okay.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Everyone is chill with everyone no matter if they are or not Greeks.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Sports like basketball and football at school bring out big crowds

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I just like that it is not a very big campus.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Campus security and campus police, be right on top of things either if something happens or just being there when its a party just to make sure everything is alright.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Being a Kinesiology major is not always so easy at times, but from the help from my professors and advisor im doing very well in my field.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: this will be my first semester getting into my major classes

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus was an ok experience, student apartments needs to be remodeled.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is average on campus, but the support for all of the sororities and fraternities was great.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The athletics are ok at my school, the fan support could be better.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love my HBCU University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I also love my institution because it is a very small environment, an also very family oriented.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Only thing is in student apartment's, there is only one toilet; I just wish we had at least two more, but it's not enough space for all of that.

5 College Junior

Party Scene: Not into the party scene.

3 College Junior

Athletics: UMES has a club football team. If we had an NCAA football team, just imagine how many more people would care about our athletics as a whole.

4 College Junior

Academics: The professors are very helpfuo for the most part, and they're very helpful in each curriculum. Depending on the teacher, the workload varies.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel very safe at my school and find no threat by the student body. Everyone one is cool and to themselves the university does a good job at protecting its students, I respect that.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There is not much for class discussion students are afraid to open there mouths and share. Me I give feedback to a lecture and engage with my professor to better understand the material.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I value my education and know exactly what I want to do when I graduate. I have been putting myself in position to network with the people I need to so that I can succeed. It is not all about a GPA but more so who do you know and what have you done in your time in college.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Housing sucks I constantly have cold water in my showers and problems with the heating. The RAs are care free and irresponsible my bedding is horrible and my back hurts at night.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is poor on my campus. I was very interested in Greek life my freshman year but quickly was turned off by the poor school spirit that the student body has. Also the fee to be apart of Greek life is unreasonable and not in my budget for a education.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is a great school because it’s not far from home for the many students who come from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area and tuition is not extremely expensive. Another plus is that the campus is large but the student body is not. This allows students and teachers to make and maintain great relationships. The availability of classes and other resources is another plus here.

And the University is only on the rise. Buildings have been added and the campus is expanding, which has allowed for the number of students, faculty, and programs on campus to grow, as well. Recent programs that have become available at UMES include aviation and pharmacy, which have brought good media attention to the campus, and in turn, brings even more students to the University. These great programs and others make it nearly impossible for a student not to find a job or go on to grad school after graduating with a bachelor’s from UMES. The University’s uniqueness is what brings students to the campus. No other campus has the same levels of diversity, individuality, and family-oriented spirit that is found at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
