Athletics: The UMHB football team always ranks as one of the top D3 teams. There are always large crowds at the basketball and volleyball games as well.

Overall Experience: The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is a school full of friendly, supportive and loving people who are dedicated to the success of all students. The student body is filled with passionate people who are committed to getting a degree and come together as a community to love and support one another.

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus. We have campus police as well as officers from the local police department. I have never had any issues with crime or assault.

Overall Experience: Hospitals know the type of professional they're getting when UMHB is on your diploma. The standard is very high and we are easily recognized. I have a great deal of pride when I am representing UMHB and I have had the best experience in matriculating at this university.

Athletics: Honestly, I live off campus, so I am not in tune with the athletic department. I hear great things about the football team and they usually go deep in the playoffs. I may attend 1 or two games per semester with my family and the Crusaders always win. I don't know about the other sports.

Overall Experience: Looking forward to intern/job opportunities

Athletics: Football and other sports are nationally competitive

Health & Safety: I have never felt safer on this campus than i have in my home town. You could walk across the campus in the middle of the night, and you can be assured that nothing will happen. There are constant campus police officers patrolling the area, in case something does happen, and they always check on you to make sure that you are ok, especially the dorms. Also, even if you do not feel safe, you are always welcome to call campus police, and they will send an officer to escort you back to your residence. Plus, the amount of crime in the campus seems non-existent. There were multiple times when i forgot some important devices int he dining area, and someone always returned it to the front desk, saving me hundreds of dollars, and countless documents that i would need. The school takes safety seriously, because they know the students would prefer a school that allows them to venture on out in the night for a walk, instead of having to wait for the day.

Campus Housing: When first enrolled in the school, i was told i had to live in a dorm before i could live anywhere else. I found this reasoning logical, and sought out my options at the school. However, since the school is primarily female based, there were only 3 options for me to choose: Gettys, McLane, and Beall. I orginally chose Gettys, because it was a very tight knit group that allowed every single host living in the dorm to know each other. But, i was put in Beall because of the lack of rooms available. Beall Hall is very immersed in involving every single person living there in any and all social activities that it hosts. Whether it be bar-b-cue behind the dorm, or a Christmas party with a movie playing on a giant screen, the dorm seeks to give residents a chance to socialize with others in the dorm. McLane is an average dorm, but seems to have more events than the other two male dorms. Overall, the social atmosphere within the college dorm life is centered on helping you find you group of friends. Whether it be one, or 10, you always seem to find a friend within that first year of living in the dorms. The apartment situation gives you the chance to gain a feel of what it would be like to live alone. Unlike the dorms, where you are required to eat at Bawcom, the apartments come with their own kitchen, and come with the option of dining in Bawcom, or choosing your own meal. And though the dorm life may come with a number of social outings, the apartment complexes do their fair share as well. Events such as fall festivities with music and games, to just handing out root beer floats, allows you to become acquainted with those living in your residential building/area. In the end, UMHB gives multiple opportunities to its students to socialize with others who might share the same interests as them.

Athletics: About two years ago, the school had finished building its own football stadium. This was a huge accomplishment, considering we would always have to use the local high school stadium for our games. The introduction and implementation of the stadium gave the school, and the students the feel of a real college. The events and sports that are held within the stadium always attract a vast number of students and public alike. Whether it be for football games, or for intramural sports, there is always a big audience wanting to watch.

Overall Experience: When first enrolled in the school, i assumed that the entire school population would consist of hard-headed baptists who's sole purpose was to convert those around them to God. Now, i see that the school has a very diverse group of students who vary in interest and in specialties. I honestly look forward to returning every year because i know that i am acquiring a good education with a school that promotes in accepting students from all walks of life. The school holds events and clubs that can pertain to certain student groups, so that no one feels isolated, and everyone feels welcome. I personally am part of a group called Cru Players, and even the Hispanic Student Association. The HSA was a club that was formed there my second year, but it has showed me that UMHB is capable of allowing students to congregate, and conversate with people they feel comfortable with. There are other clubs that focus on African American students, Indian Students, Chinese Students, etc. These clubs, though focused on one nationality, are not again gaining members of different nationalities. The whole purpose of each and every clubs is to allow other students a chance to understand what it is like living in a different type of culture, whether that be a Hispanic culture, or a Chinese one. The school is also determined to involve their students in religious organizations to help either find or expand one's religious knowledge. Courses such as Old/New Testament give students a chance to broaden their knowledge on the bible, and show that there is more than just saying "I believe in God." Events such as Worship in the Quad, and the Easter Pageant shows how determined the school is in incorporating religion into the student's lives, but not in a way that seems imposing. Overall, the school is a great institution that allows student to study a variety of subject, while giving the feeling of a safe home.
