Scholarships: When I do get financial aid it is sufficient for my needs. The only problem I have is my paperwork is constantly lost and they blame me for losing it after i submitted the paperwork to the office.

Off-Campus Dining: There are about six small restaurants in town, with two chains. The best places to eat by far are the smallest in size. I personally recommend Mill Bridge and Doris's Café. They are both extremely affordable and have GREAT food.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: You get to venture out into another country.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: Always a salad bar; different foods each day.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I have lived off campus the entire time i have gone to school and have yet to have any issues

Off-Campus Dining: It's the same expensive food for cheap quality that is not very good

3 College Sophomore

Administration: I've never had a terrible or great experience with them

2 College Sophomore

Party Scene: If you want to participate in any parties you have to cross the border to Canada, or many students simply drink in their own rooms

Scholarships: The school system promises you aid, then never applies the aid to your account. You end up having to go in and fight for it to be applied and argue that you should not have a collection agency come after you for the money that you do not owe that they said they would give you in aid. I have been dealing this for two years and have had the same issues every semester.

Campus Food: Its cheap and expensive for the quality that you receive

2 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: i have never lived on campus because i was so disgusted by the dorm options

4 College Junior

Local Area: The area is full of a lot of different cultural events including a ploye festival, World Acadien Congress, and sled dog races.

3 College Junior

Academics: Professors: As with all schools, some professors are great, some are not good at all. In my time here I have only run into three that I just could not get along with.

Workload: When first starting out the work wasn't too bad. Once you enter your third year however the work load increases a lot. I have spent much of my time on assignments.

Popular Study Areas: The lair, dorm common rooms, library, student support services

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: The student activities are readily available so that students, both on and off campus, can know what's going on. Some of the facilities are not kept in the best condition. The student center and lounge are great places to hang out with friends and to make new ones.

Weather: Being in Northern Maine, winters are long. With that said, it is understandable that we deal with snow for a large portion of the school year. It is annoying to have to walk on campus on snowy or slushy walkways, but these are a result of the geographical location of the school, not a poor job by campus staff.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drugs and alcohol aren't really visible on campus but you do see students coming to classes high, hungover, and sometimes drunk. But that is typical of most college aged students at least a few times during their college career. There is a presence of it on Facebook, where there are photos of students partying, but nothing too extreme for the most part.

Off-Campus Dining: It would be nice to see more ethnically diverse dining options for the international students who might like a taste of home once in a while.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Many people have international relationships and it's interesting to see cultures combining.

5 College Sophomore

Technology: Good computers. If you need to use one it is very likely available.

Academics: UMFK is known for its reputable nursing program. It is a hard workload but the advisers and professors are accessible if you need help and guidance and the classes are small so you get more one on one attention.

Weather: We have snow 5 months out of the academic year. The roads are well plowed and the campus is well taken care of in order to get to classes.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: This is a rural university so finding housing near the campus is difficult. You have to travel quit a ways to and from classes if you live off campus.

Academics: I chose UMFK because they are known for there exceptional nursing program. The classes are small and you get to know your professors on a personal level. The workload is hard and demanding but well worth the education I am receiving.

Health & Safety: This a very small school. It is not a big campus to walk around and usually you are with a group going to classes or events. I have not felt like my safety has been an issue.
