Campus Food: There are way too many swipes on meal plan. Ville Grille was the worst option yet I felt forced to go there just ot use my swipes. I did love the flex dollars. However, it was impossible to use all the swipes.

Campus Housing: It was nice living on campus because I'm finally fully independent. I lived in a very old dorm so I wasn't as satisfied as those in newer dorms understandably. I had a very close relationship with my roommate but no with other residents. The convenience was the best part, the proximity to the library was excellent.

Off-Campus Housing: The off- campus, campus-affiliate(Bellamy, Province, Retreat, Grove, etc) housing and apartments are really nice, but outrageously expensive. They charge around $800/mo. per person. So if 4 people live in an apartment together, it's still around $800/mo per person.

Off-Campus Dining: The cost is the same for the restaurants on campus as they would be off campus. I've heard nothing but good things about Mt. Fiji and it's something different, not fast food. It allows a little bit of variety.

Administration: I think University of Louisville does a good job making sure students social lives are safe and that they do their best academically.

Party Scene: I have never been to a campus party but the way people talk about them on social media, they seem pretty fun.

Scholarships: I did not receive any financial aid. I think that is stupid because my parents are not helping me with college. The amount of financial aid a college student gets should not be based off their parents' incomes.

Campus Food: Campus food is alright. The ville grill has some good food and its close to the dorms and only costs 1 swipe to get in and you can swipe in friends. The sac has a lot of great options.

Campus Housing: I do not live on campus but I have several friends that do. They love it because the dorms are easily accessible to all parts of campus and you can get to any building on campus in around 10 minutes or less.

Off-Campus Housing: Overall the living places themselves are really nice, such as the Provence. There is a pool, sand volley ball court and a movie theatre, which are all really nice and a great way to meet new people. the apartments themselves are spacious and the all of the appliances are up to date and the location to campus is really close, within walking distance. Even though the apartment are nice, they are also expensive and most find it hard to find ways to make payments. It would be more helpful if upper classmen still had the option the live on campus, but there are still other options, although not the cheapest.

Off-Campus Dining: I really like the options that are available, such as Burger Boy and Dairy Kastle. The food is great and is just a short drive or bikeride away from campus, which is great.

Administration: I'd say that the school knows what is important to be strict about, such as drinking and drug use. They dont allow excuses for anyone, which I appreciate and this makes me feel safe and secure while on campus. Other things, such as visitationan being loud, they are more lenient on and seem to understand that we are young adults who want to have fun and sometimes that involves being a little rowdy.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: I feel like the parties here are pretty average, it all depends on where you go to see a different type of party. Frat parties are always fun, the brothers go out of their way to make their guests enjoy themselves, they have great music, games and themes (some nights). depending on the event, the brothers will have charity events to help raise awarness for a certain issue or group, such as the "Polar Plunge" for ALS. It is a great way to get involved, meet other people and to have fun!

Scholarships: I honestly do not have any scholarships to my school, I always seemed to be missing something from my application that the judges were looking for. However, the school does have great opportunities available to earn scholarships for school, study abroad programs and so much more.

Campus Food: There are a lot of dining options on campus and off campus. In the SAC there is Wendy's, Jazzman's and the best of all, Chick-fil-a. The dining halls are upstairs and down and I appreciate how large they are, I dont feel cramped and the service is great. There is of course The Ville Grill and the CBC, both are nice places to go, if you want a varitey of choises to eat. I just wish there were more places to use swipes. I always run out of flex points and have way too many swipes left that I will never need.

Campus Housing: I live in a traditional dorm here at UofL and honestly, I think it was a great experience living in my dorm and on campus. It was the first time I went away for school, so it was new and a little scary. The rooms were smaller and there was a community bathroom that all of the girls on the floor shared. Unfortunatly, the bathrooms were always dirty, but that never bothered me too much. However, I did have a great RA, who made sure that all of the girls on the floor knew each other, so we all felt more at home. I love that I am so close to everything on campus. Everything is within walking/biking distance and I love how open and diverse campus is. People are always nice and willing to help and it was easy for me to meet a lot of different people and to make new friends. My favorite part about campus is, of course, all of the different places to eat! I also love our new student rec center, where I can hang out with my friends and the new gym, so I can work out and be more involved on campus.

Off-Campus Housing: I personally haven't dealt with off-campus housing but I've heard people around me talk about the experience.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of places around campus to fulfill your appetite when the ville grill gets old.

4 College Freshman

Administration: On most aspects administration is pretty lenient. There are rules and we all know the rules and consequences but those rules aren't outrageous requests.

Scholarships: I wasn't told all the information I should have been aware of at the beginning of the semester and it caused trouble later in the semester.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

The University of Louisville isn't perfect, but to those who love it, the flaws only add to the experience. Not everyone likes going to such a large university—it can be very intimidating, especially if you come from a smaller high school. However, the crowds offer an opportunity to improve your social skills and make as many new friends as you want. And even with a huge student body, most people find a tight group of friends that they stick with throughout their time at U of L. Most students make friends with other residents in their dorm hall or by joining clubs or Greek organizations.

The professors and other University staff are so friendly and offer lots of personal attention. You wouldn't normally expect this at such a big school, but that's one thing that makes U of L special. Another thing the University provides is an almost endless list of opportunities for students. They may have to go looking in the right places, but there are so many things for U of L student to try out and experience. There are plenty of study abroad opportunities, as well as a career center that can help students get internships and jobs after they graduate. However, even with all of these opportunities and resources, some students say they don't feel that U of L offers enough for them. However, some people just fit better at a smaller school. A single college will never fit everyone's needs, so there will always be some left unsatisfied. If you take advantage of the resources, you'll have a much better chance of enjoying your experience. U of L has a lot to offer—you just have to jump in and grab it.
