4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of options to choose from if you want to dine off campus. There are a lot of restaurants and tons of fast food places that you can eat at with in 5 miles of campus.

3 College Junior

Administration: I haven't had a ton of experience with some of the strictness of the administration. From what I have experienced is that there is a little variation on how strict certain policies are.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: I received the necessary aid to account for the amount of money that was owed to the school. I had a little trouble, because I had to keep turning in my parent's tax return along with mine but other than that it was fine.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: I don't use the college cafeteria, because I am a commuter student. I usually eat the food in the Student Union Building. They have Subway, Chik-Fil-A, and a couple other good places to eat.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The college is okay. It's not the greatest, but it is still a great school. Some of the professors are terrible teachers, and refuse to help you learn some of the material. They are currently remodeling some of the older buildings at the moment.

1 College Junior

Guys & Girls: No diversity whatsoever. It's really segregated and it's a very small school so everyone is pretty much connected which can lead to a lot of drama.

1 College Junior

Overall Experience: I didn't expect my college life to be so horrible. The campus is too small. The city is too small. The people are segregated and rude and there is nothing to do. I even joined a sorority and that did not make any difference. I am a fast pace person who likes excitement and to have something to look forward to when learning and this university does have any of it. If your not a Pharmacy or Nursing major then going to this school is pretty pointless.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Some professors really take the time to guide you and give you feedback to strength your skills. Most overlook you. Because the campus is so small, you can know just about everyone in your classes and the professors. It can be a good thing, but sometimes professors have their favorite students that they are willing to help out more than others.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Trying to get some experience under my belt is the hardest thing to do in Monroe. It such a small country city and there's not many opportunities. I'm a communications major. Even though we have an award winning newspaper staff, the department is very small and limiting.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: They close at 5pm on weekdays and 12pm on Fridays, and that can be frustrating if you have an emergency.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek life plays a huge part for the university. They mainly throw events on campus.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Sports are a big part of campus life but they don't really win all that much.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: They have a lot of off-campus housing options that are close to the school; however, some are old and run down while others are new.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: They have a few local places that's worth hitting up, but don't hit them up all at once! You'll find yourself in a routine.

4 College Junior

Administration: ULM is very strict when it comes to rules.

1 College Junior

Party Scene: There really aren't any clubs in Monroe. Its an extremely small area, so there is no diversity in the types of events going on in the area. Frats usually throw parties, but it gets old very quickly because it's always the same thing.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: When it comes to financial aid, you will receive the support you need.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: They serve pretty much the same food every week. They use the left over food and try to reuse it to make something else.

2 College Junior

Campus Housing: They have two pretty bad dorms on campus. The university lies and says that their remodeling it every semester, but they never do. They don't even show you the dorms during a tour.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are some people that live off campus, most people try to because the dorms aren't that good.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of options, but most of them are fast food/chain restaurants. There are some good local places, but those quickly fill up and are overcrowded.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Most of the police officers violate the rules themselves, or party with the students. However a lot of parking tickets are given out, and all of them are a minimum of 50 dollars.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It is very hard for people from out of state to receive financial aid. The scholarship I did receive took many attempts to actually see deposited in my account.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Cafeteria is not recommendable and anything else on campus is unhealthy and very expensive.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Everything essential is provided, however, college dorms provide little storage or built in shelfs/cabinets. Dorms are dated. The school is great at sending someone for repairs, light bulb replacement, or anything that may need fixing.
