4 College Freshman

Transportation: I always see buses drivig around, but I don't have much need for them because I have a car here on campus.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Personally, I have never used any public transportation, but I hear that people really enjoy it and find it accessible.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Lots of buses around that aren't too pricey. But if you have a car, you spend a lot on parking

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: I have only ever used the Cambus and it is a great feature of the campus. It definitely takes some time to get used to and figuring out the routes and times. I loved that it was free and the drivers are helpful with questions. The buses run frequently during the late morning to late afternoon, especially around the main campus. Depending on the time or day it can be difficult getting to where you need to go. If you have to go farther outside of campus, you usually have to plan on waiting at some point for the next bus (which can be upwards of 30 minutes).

There are so many ways to get around the University of Iowa, it is ridiculous. Missing a class because “there was no way to get to it,” is just not an excuse you’ll be able to use. Iowa City and UI provide many ways to move from point A to point B without having to get into a car. The Cambus (“campus bus”) is free for students and comes by every 10 minutes during the day. The Iowa City bus is pretty cheap and runs all over the city, and the Coralville bus runs to the Coral Ridge Mall.

Getting out of town without driving is also relatively easy. There is an airport 20 minutes away with non-stop service to many cities, including Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Orlando, and St. Louis. Additionally, there is a bus station close to the residence halls.
