4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of attractive people on campus and most date pretty often.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: It all really depends on what you're looking for. There are a lot of frat bros and sorority girls, and a select few of them are actually really interesting people. Almost everyone likes to get wasted and party over the weekends and hook ups are common. If you like to drink, its easy to be social with the student body. On a typical friday night you will see groups of girls clad in skimpy, skimpy skirts; and groups of bros with their hats backwards and their pants sagging well below their asses. There are a lot of good looking people here, but don't let their outer appearance hinder your judgement. If you seek them out there are many brilliant, cool, calm and intelligent women and men alike that are well worth getting to know. Its a diverse community.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: A lot of students look like farmers since I go to school in Iowa which means the dress like farmers. Then there are the people from the city who dress in jeans and tshirts. The students also love football and go all out on game days with their attire. It creates a really fun and exciting environment. Here at Iowa we love to party. On the weekends you will see most people out at the bars downtown with their friends. Everyone is always having a good time.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Many students who are in a fraternity or sorority are easy to pick out of the crowd. The girls wear uggs, leggings, sorority sweatshirts with a baseball cap. The boys mostly wear sperrys for shoes with colored pants or shorts. Not everyone is in a fraternity or sorority. You can find many different people on this campus. The nightlife usually consists of both girls and boys going out. Relationships are not widely seen on this campus.

The University of Iowa has many attractive members of both sexes. Being a major university and having a large student body gives undergraduates plenty of people to meet and learn about. Guys around campus come off as a little defensive—it seems like they are trying to be better than any other guy they know. The girls around campus can be shy, but once you start talking to them, they open up. It seems like a strong majority of the campus is looking for a special person, either for a night or for a long-term relationship.

With so many people at UI, it is in your best interest to talk to many different people. If you are looking to meet someone, the best option is the bar scene—most people head there to meet others, and alcohol always helps loosen things up. When in doubt, it’s best to break the ice—chances are, the other person is going to be just as open to conversation as you are.

Social Scene
Everyone at Iowa is really outgoing, so it's very easy to make friends. Students usually meet their good friends on their dorm floor, followed by fellow students from your hometown and people in class-you get to know a lot of different types of people.
Hookups or Relationships?
There are so many people at the UI that the dating scene is what you make of it. If you are looking for a long term relationship, then you can find it. Some people prefer going to the bar and looking for a short-lived fling.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
The best place to meet people is, by far, the bars around town. Many people go to the bar for this reason alone. You will also meet a lot of people waiting in line for the bathroom at bars. Another excellent place to meet people is in your classes-at least in this situation, you know that the two of you will have something in common.
Dress Code
Iowa's dress code is very contradictory. For class, a lot of students dress extremely casual-think baggy sweats and Uggs-while others wear jeans and T-shirts. At the bars, though, it's all about high heels and button-down shirts, even at the more casual bars.
