Local Area: I love wandering around Hartford and West Hartford. You just have to be careful about where in Hartford you are. Downtown is gorgeous, but you have to go through the rough part of town to get there.

Local Area: Downtown Hartford can be quite a nice place if you know which areas to stay out of. There are several good restaurants in Hartford, the majority of which are friendly towards students. Overall the local area is fairly nice

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: Very expensive, too expensive for students, and there's no where to go without a car.

The University of Hartford is in West Hartford, Conn., but the surrounding areas of Hartford and Downtown Hartford are where you will find most of the local attractions, nightclubs, and restaurants. The most popular clubs here are Club Life, Passions, and NV—many students travel to these spots on Thursdays. There are also other Downtown bars and hangout spots where students like to spend their weekends.

On the other side of town in West Hartford, you will find Blue Back Square, a part of West Hartford Center, which has many shops and restaurants, including Barnes & Noble, Ann Taylor, The Cheesecake Factory, and Moe’s. There is also a movie theater conveniently located in the center of everything. In the Westfarms Mall area, there are all the stores in the mall, plus other popular spots like Old Navy and Toy's R Us, as well as a variety of restaurants. In Manchester, about 30 minutes from campus, is Buckland Hills Mall, one of the biggest in the area. It is also surrounded by many shops and popular restaurants. Most University of Hartford students research places they would like to go to and find a way to get there. There is a lot to do in the area, and students often say they would rather explore the area than stay on campus.
