Local Area: Downtown Athens is always a fun place to be. There is always something going on.

Technology: I have not had the need to use computers on campus. There are some assignments due online so a personal laptop is helpful.

Parking: Signing up for a parking permit was difficult and I think it is too expensive.

Overall Experience: Advisors told me that I could get a Bachelor's in nursing at the University of Georgia and retain residency in Athens, Georgia. After talking with my appointed advisor, she informed me that I could not in fact stay in Athens to complete my degree. I am not sure if I would choose the University of Georgia if I could do it again.

Overall Experience: I love my school. There is a great sense of pride through the traditions of attending football games, ringing the chapel bell, and jumping in the fountain. Although it's a large school, I can easily feel and build a sense of community among my peers.

Drug Safety: Before the start of freshman year, all freshman are required to take an alcohol and drug safety course. I think this informs students of the dangers alcohol and drugs have and helps them make wiser decisions. I know many people who don't drink and can still have a great time.

4 College Junior

Technology: I would bring my personal computer for convenience sake. Sometimes it is easier to use the computer while you are at a dining hall or in class rather than waiting until you are at the student center.

4 College Junior

Administration: The basic policy is if you aren't bothering anyone then no one will bother you.

Greek Life: The IFC and Panhellenic fraternities and sororities can be typically found in the antebellum southern mansions lining greek row. However, our school also has multicultural and historically african american fraternities and sororities. If you aren't Greek, you typically aren't viewed any differently. Our school has a lot of organizations students can join to build a sense of community.

Weather: A majority of the time, the weather is very nice. Since the school is in the south, the winters are not grueling although towards the beginning of the fall semester and end of the spring semester, it can get pretty hot.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of options off-campus, but sometimes it can be inconvenient since there is always the early morning rush of traffic filled with students and staff trying to get to class.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: The freshman dorms are typically smaller, but there is a greater sense of community. The nicer, typically upperclassmen housing options have bigger rooms, but it is harder to meet people.

Party Scene: If there is ever a time you want to go party, you will never be unsatisfied. The nightlife is some of the best for a college town. But even if you don't like to drink, there are still a ton of other options for you to enjoy.

Campus Food: All the dining halls are amazing! If you want something late night, there is a dining hall that is open 24 hours a day 4 days a week.

4 College Junior

Diversity: As a big university, there are tons of different types of people who interact on a daily basis. The students are typically very accepting of diversity whether its race, sexual orientation, or political belief.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Athens is a great place for unique cuisine that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. In addition, there are always student discounts during the week so that students can get great food for cheap.

5 College Junior

Athletics: We are all about our football program! The stadium is packed during home football games!

5 College Junior

Academics: As a political science major, there are many opportunities to get involved on campus while utilizing the skills you learn in class. The school has many unique study abroad and internship opportunities for students to use.

5 College Junior

Academics: The professors keep the classes exciting and engaging. The workload can sometimes be overwhelming, but it is definitely manageable with good time management skills. In addition, students who have internships with different government facilities can turn those into college credit.

5 College Junior

Majors: The time commitment for my internship was great practice for my future job. Having to work from 9 am to 5 pm was definitely something I needed to get used to doing. I was responsible for assisting my co-workers with any duties they needed help with. Although I wasn't bad very much, I think I learned a lot about an office environment and that is something money can't buy!

3 College Junior

Majors: Haven't had the opportunity because there are few research internships available in my area.

4 College Junior

Athletics: People go crazy over the Bulldogs, the football team of UGA. Fan support is huge. A lot of other sports (both men's & women's) like basketball, swimming, tennis are also popular but everything gets overshadowed by football.

Drug Safety: Campus enforcement of drug policy is quite good. Drug use is not very noticeable on campus.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: For the most part, students are well-dressed, especially the girls. Social life is great.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
