Health & Safety: I don't feel threatened at all during the day but at night I prefer to be in a group of people and refuse to walk around alone.

Off-Campus Dining: There is a large variety of options and most of it is affordable and tasty.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I've been able to get most of my awarded aid but am still waiting on GI Bill.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Its not somewhere I want to live but its not a dump!

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: They have fun parties and help the community out with their philanthropies.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: UGA has some of the best teams in varsity league as well as very competitive club and intramural sports. The fan base here is huge and supportive of all our teams.

2 College Freshman

Administration: It is not strick at all with the exception of tickets

Campus Housing: The dorm is your average dorm. It is not extremely spacious however it becomes homey after a while. I live in Payne which is a great location since most of my classes are a walk away. There are no particular amenities, but it is a very social dorm. We all hang out frequently. We all chill in the lobby together. The housing process was mildy stressful since they ran out of dorms, but I got one at the last minute (none of my top choices btw). The nicest dorm is EVC AND 1516 but they are also the least social. Payne, creswell, and russell are very social for freshmen.

Athletics: UGA football is huge.Saturday in Athens is unlike any other. It really is very enjoyable. It is filled with lots of tradition. I also like the club sports that are also very popular to join and watch. It is a really nice atmosphere. Ramsey(recreational center) is one of the nicest facilities on campus. It is also open to everyone and you can rent certain gear as well.

Greek Life: Greek life is huge on UGA, but it does not consume the entire campus. You will meet people in Greeks and meet just as many non-greeks. You do not feel any pressure to join and you can still go to their parties. At first it may seem that the greek people are very to cliquish which is mildlly true but you will meet some very friendly ones as well.

Health & Safety: As a female, I have walked alone, and I have never felt unsafe on campus. However, during the wekend a lot of people get drunk and it can get kinda of hectic. We have a lot of security during the weekend, but not during the week. For the most part, I feel pretty safe on campus. I feel comfortable leaving my scooter unlock. So all in all its pretty good security.

Majors: I do not have an internship, however UGA has plenty of places like the career center and other major related clubs that can assist you in finding one. I do have a part time job at Snelling. The pay is minimum wage (7.6/h) However, it is fun to meet people and they are very flexible with your hours. I also do not have to work the weekend but other dining halls do.

Majors: When I started school, i planned to be an engineering major. It was pretty easy. You meet with your adviser, and you get a preview of the program at orientation. However, i am planning to switch to business which you have to apply to your second year. All in all, t was pretty easy. I do suggest using degreeworks to keep up with your credits and to see the class requirements for that major.

Off-Campus Dining: Pretty good local restaurants, not too many chain restaurants in Athens.

Party Scene: If you like to drink, your going to have a good time. Join a club if your having trouble finding friends.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: The girls are hot. Most guys are goons that couldn't find a social life without being in a fraternity. Being in a fraternity definitely helps with getting girls, but if you have any game go downtown and you'll get some action.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: The mere size of the campus makes it difficult to make area safe. Use common sense and you'll be fine.

4 College Junior

Administration: Don't mess with cops here they will have no mercy. Steer clear.

4 College Junior

Local Area: Great restaurant, music and bar scene.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Dorms are small, but thats typical for living in the dorms/

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I believe advisors are very good at helping you find a major. While I have not applied to get into my major program yet, I believe I will be very prepared. I am in my pre-requisite classes for applying to the Terry College of Business now, and I believe those classes are preparing me greatly for Terry as well as getting me very excited to be a part of the college.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I absolutely LOVE the business program. I am only in the pre-requisites but I love my classes so much. They are so applicable to the real world, and I feel as if all the knowledge I am learning is going to directly help me in the working world some day. They have an abundance of opportunities to meet with employers and connections, as well as internship opportunities very frequently. I believe the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia is one of the best business programs there is.

Local Area: Athens is an incredible place with something for any and everyone. There is a strong community atmosphere, many church communities, a great farmer's market, a wonderful YMCA, a great downtown scene as well as GREAT local music and art. I love Athens!

3 College Sophomore

Administration: The campus is relatively lenient on most things other than parking. The campus is extremely strict about parking and you will most likely get a ticket if you park out of place.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
