Off-Campus Dining: Great local restaurants and plenty of cheap places for college students. There is even a local vegetarian/vegan restaurant!

Party Scene: Mostly exists downtown, but if you're in greek life, you have many options.

Local Area: Beautiful and quaint little town, but there a lot of homeless people.

Athletics: UGA football is very famous within the nation and the bull dawg nation sticks together in strengths and weaknesses. The fan support is truly commendable and it reflects on the school spirit as a whole!

Greek Life: The Greek life at UGA is very diverse however many students decide not to take part in it. However those who decide not to take part in it are not seen differently and the social atmosphere remains the same for them. The Greek housing available for Greeks are not mandatory as far as I know however, students may choose to live in the special houses provided by the campus or choose to live in the regular dorms provided by UGA housing.

Health & Safety: The health and safety aspects of UGA are probably some of the finest qualities of my school. A student is well informed about these causes and many take the initiative to further understand and help these severe issues.

Off-Campus Housing: The proximity is most likely the best part as well as the cost because it is a lot cheaper when compared to on campus housing facilities. However, safety would probably be the biggest concern.

Campus Housing: The housing at UGA is great and a lot more constructive than nearby colleges. UGA buildings have a great overall building quality as well as many perks to living on campus such as ease to classes, the social atmosphere as well as cleanliness. The freshman high rises are the worst, where I lived my freshman year and east campus village (ECV) is the best, where I currently reside.

Party Scene: Yes, partying is a part of college life, and I have been out twice in two years at the University of Georgia. However, if it becomes overly obsessive to an extent where the school is known for its parties, it can have a negative impact on student experience. At UGA, the parties usually take place on Thursdays as many students go out, and most commonly to downtown Athens.

Administration: The campus security is very appreciative at the University of Georgia because the officers take the initiative to provide a safe and beautiful campus at all times. The policies on attendance, parking, drug use, and honor code are well maintained and restrict the students from breaking the rules in any way. This especially relates to the Academic Honesty Council at the University of Georgia, which I am a part of. However, UGA does need to strengthen its policies on alcohol use as well as the policies related to starting new organizations.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many different off-campus dining areas at the University of Georgia, and more importantly, they seem to be extremely convenient for students for two reasons. Firstly, the bus systems are great and provide transportation to the off-campus dining areas and secondly, these areas provide student discounts as well as a good variety of food for the students. However, since UGA dining halls are rated best in the nation, the off campus dining areas are used variably.

Majors: The staff at UGA are very helpful as long as you are willing to ask for help, they know what they are doing and can guide you the process.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many great places to live near campus, many of which are near to a bus stop or public transit.

Off-Campus Dining: Athens has a great downtown with many nicer restaurants which are fun when your family is in town but also has many cheaper places for the typical broke college student.

Scholarships: Most students are able to get low tuition, particularly with the Hope or Zell Miller scholarships, but it is fairly difficult for out of state students.

Party Scene: Even though I am too focused on my degree to college, most people seem to greatly enjoy the party scene, particularly downtown and at the frats.

Administration: Though the official policy is to limit smoking, drinking, and drugs, the actual enforcement of this is almost nonexistent.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
