Athletics: I'm not into sports, but everyone loves them here.

Overall Experience: In my first semester, I took two claases that were 200+ and two classes that were less than 25 people. So, the class size is a mix bag. However, the courses are not extremely horrible even if you are not interested in the subject matter you might learn something. Office hours are important to build relationships with your teacher.

Off-Campus Dining: Off- campus dining is actually enjoyable. I live in north campus, so it is extremely convenient for me. The late night places that serve ice cream, pizza, and cookies are really nice for the students. Downtown Athens is for the students. However, the prices are just average. The prices are not that reasonable, but it is not extremely high.

Off-Campus Dining: Another perk of downtown Athens being right next to north campus.

Campus Housing: Housing will obviously be better for upperclassmen. Either way, the quality varies tremendously from dorm to dorm.

Greek Life: It's rare for a non-Greek to hang out with a Greek, even though a lot of Greeks admit they prefer their non-Greek friends. Being Greek is like being trapped in a cult that no one actually wants to be in.

Majors: As a freshmen, you don't get to be very involved with your specific program of study. Joining a learning community can help, but the majors can vary drastically even there.

Health & Safety: Female students don't walk around campus at night without a guy present, either because it isn't safe or they simply don't feel safe. The campus doesn't have those blue light posts that other campuses do, because the folks in charge seem to believe that everyone has access to their cell phones 100% of the time. They also claim that they're not needed because the sexual assaults are so few and far between. Maybe assaults are so infrequent because girls are terrified of going outside after sundown.

Local Area: The roads can be a bit tedious to drive since it's hard to remember their layout, but there is always something to see or somewhere to go. It's about a 15-25 minute drive from campus to the mall and its surrounding shopping complexes, but there are a lot of places to shop and a lot of restaurants in town.

Overall Experience: The teachers are genuinely interested in what they're teaching, and seem to have what's best for the students in ind as far as testing and moving deadlines and such.

Scholarships: Contacting the Financial aid office is a hassle and some of the employees are condescending and rude (very short); office hours are not convenient for working students; not enough financial aid opportunities are available in my opinion either.

3 College Senior

Administration: Everything I have experienced so far with the administration here has been fair; they haven't been too strict nor are they so lenient that it's uneasy.

4 College Senior

Majors: I'm a psychology major with a concentration in Neuroscience. The classes are hard but it's what I've always wanted to do. This school has one of the best programs for this and has an excellent research program and facility available to students and undergraduates to get experience in the field.

Off-Campus Housing: The closer to campus that crappier the places are with thinner walls and less security. The farther from campus the higher the price but more security; there are plenty of places with easy access to Inner Loop 10 and 316 to get you to campus however.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I transferred here and my experience here has been a thousand times better than it was at my old school! Financial Aide office is difficult to deal with sometimes but that's partly expected considering how many students there are and how many office personnel there are.

3 College Senior

Local Area: There's plenty to do downtown with bars/shops/clubs/etc. Finding parking downtown is nearly impossible unless you get there early and want to pay a ridiculous amount for the entire night; if you want to wait until parking is free... forget it!

3 College Senior

Party Scene: There is a variety of party scenes around campus and downtown to attend. It all depends on what you are wanting to do for the night and what kind of atmosphere you want to be around. Downtown is always packed at night so you have to have patience to get into the bars/clubs.

Athletics: During football season is when the most school pride is shown for athletic events. I have seen TONS of athletes handing out fliers to events and upcoming games which is encouraging. Sports other than football typically have incentives for going to their events which suggests that their interest from students is extremely low.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: All of the the Greek Frats/Srats that I know of on campus have their own houses. Only Freshman/Sophomores and Exec members are allowed to live in the houses. Campus is rather large so seeing Greeks on campus is a common occurrence; most of the Greek's that I have met have not been very friendly unless they see someone in their organization. I have yet to see any Greek events hosted around campus nor have I heard of any Greek events being held or advertised around campus.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great depending on where you live, but the cost is very expensive.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: The greek life on campus seems to be viewed as racist. Most of the sorority and fraternity groups are 100 percent white.

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing is great, the cost is cheap and the living is great.

4 College Freshman

Administration: The school has finally let us have unlimited withdrawals from classes.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: The atmosphere has a southern charm. Everyone is friendly there.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The University of Georgia is all about football.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
