Overall Experience: The Athens area has so many diverse restaurants. It lacks diverse stores, however.

Football can be a dream or a nightmare. For me, a nightmare.

Professors are the best. I haven't had a single one who didn't care about their subject and students. That said, I had some good teachers.

Transportation can get crowded, but it's manageable and convenient.

Downtown can get hectic, but it's part of the lifestyle here.

There are many volunteer opportunities for people- and animal-lovers.

Breweries.

Diversity.

LGBT community is really gaining a voice.

Dance community in Athens!

Music lessons from UGA can be expensive, but my tutor was amazing.

Diversity: When I meet someone, we just automatically treat each other with respect and smile. People so far are very accepting.

Health & Safety: There are adults watching out from corners and books and crannies of the campus. Drivers see anything on the bus. It's well protected.

Overall Experience: The teachers couldn't really care if you like them or not, which makes it easier for them to do things which are not in your favor. They do only the things they are required and will do everything they can as long as they don't have to go the extra mile. They aren't there to have fun, they're serious.

Overall Experience: Compared to many colleges, UGA has a vast selection of classes and programs. While many colleges have a general field, say Environmental Science, you have 5 programs that branch off of that and get specific.

Campus Housing: I don't actually live on campus but I've heard that if you calculate it out, each meal is like $7. Which is cool!

Greek Life: The stories I hear make me wish I'd chosen to live on campus!

Athletics: Each club is passionate about their goals and focus. Each sport makes UGA the sports college it is. I'm proud to call myself a DAWG!

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I'd always dreamed of going to UGA because everyone I had ever trusted to have great judgment went to UGA and loved it. Now that I'm here, it's just so huge and just as captivating as it is nerve wracking. Such a wonderful place with understanding and caring faces. Just make sure you understand how the buses work!

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. I have never felt at risk.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Great classes, professors, and opportunities. The class sizes improve as you complete cores.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Lots of opportunities here. There are very active alumni, especially around sports.

Campus Housing: Good stuff, but mine (Brumby) is far away and has small rooms.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love my college experience! From the classes to the extracurriculars, I love it!

Health & Safety: Let's be honest. UGA is a big party school, and where there are parties, there is going to be booze. Alcohol is a major contributor to some of the sexual assaults that the school has to deal with. And since the school is so close to downtown Athens, it's easy for a person to be assaulted or even kidnapped.

Campus Housing: Living in a dorm for the first year is definately helpful and makes getting around to classes easier. I live at an all girls dorm, so it's nice that the atmosphere feels cleaner than that of Brumby or O-House.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I am a non-Greek student, and I am utterly indifferent to Greek students. There is no doubt that joining a sorority or fraternity provides you with a wider range of connections and friends, but it is very time-consuming and expensive.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Excellent professors and class variety as well as a beautiful, energetic campus full of things to do. However, students here aren't very diverse.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The security on campus is well and comforting. The university is an open campus, so there are people who freely come and roam the campus. However, the crime rate is low and students are safe.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: All courses on campus are rigorous. However, when a student is struggling or is in need of help, teachers are available to answer any questions, no matter the class size. Some class sizes contain around 300 students, such as biology. But there are classes that are smaller in size such as English, Spanish, and First Year Odyssey.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Attaining an education and a degree from this university is worthwhile, and once one achieves their awesome undergraduate studies at UGA, multiple counselors and career guides are genuinely here to assist all students when looking for a career.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is a great experience, especially for a freshmen. You are able to meet many new people, some possibly becoming your best friends. Many activities such as game nights and group talk occur as well. In regards to Mell Hall, the rooms and amenities greatly fit your needs. However, Mell has four floors and not an elevator, so moving in was a little tough.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life makes up a good portion of the population on campus. Fraternities and Sororities provide a chance for individuals to become closer with their brothers/sisters and engage in great philanthropic activities.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Are school is majorly engaged in the sports on campus, providing both varsity and intramural activities that all student body can participate in, from attending games and cheering on follow peers, to simply having a great time with friends.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love the dorms through out the university, the large libraries, and the multiple opportunities provided through out campus everyday. I would choose this college again because it is just like a second home to me, with a great community and support.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
