Campus Quality: There is something for everyone everywhere on campus. The Museum of Art, Ramsey Student Center, Intramural Fields, Tate Student Center, Miller Learning Center, Georgia Theater, etc.

Athletics: The University of Georgia is known for football and many of the other sports have athletes that go on to compete in the Olympics as part of team USA.

Campus Housing: There are kitchen stations, study rooms, and lounge areas on every floor which is convenient and a laundry room in the basement. There is a lot of space and my bathroom is in my room. However, the walls need to be properly repainted and the floors need to stripped and waxed.

Technology: The technology has probably upgraded since I was there. There are computer labs, but just bring your own laptop. It will save you lots of trouble.

Transportation: There aren't a lot of different routes on campus for the buses, but they will get you where you need to go. There is also city transportation which can get you to and from your apartment. You don't really need a car at all.

Off-Campus Housing: Most of the off-campus housing is very average, but there is a lot of it. You can easily find an apartment near a city bus stop, or use the very available parking. They are usually located away from other locations, so it's relatively quiet with little to no traffic.

Weather: Weather without extremes. Gets a little hot in August, September, and May, but nothing too horrible. In the winter it gets a little cold, but there's rarely any snow or anything like that.

Academics: The Middle School Education program is very good at the University of Georgia. You will have the chance to learn about several aspects of education while you are there, with a focus on an age group that is often ignored. There are very encouraging professors who care about what they're doing.

Academics: UGA has a great variety of options for learning. Professors are often available, though in some places you may struggle to find a professor that speaks English well. There is rigor involved, but not so much that it becomes life-consuming.

Guys & Girls: It's a good group of people on campus. If you're not the partying type, avoid Milledge and all the Greek housing. There are so many people everywhere, it's easy to find a group that you can become friends with.

Campus Housing: There are several different housing options on campus. If you're looking for a more social experience, then the huge freshmen dorms are for you. If you like a quieter, more secluded experience, there are options there, too. I lived on campus for three years due to the convenience. I highly recommend it.

Off-Campus Dining: A good variety. While there are several chain restaurants around Athens, there are lots of little unique places in downtown and elsewhere that can keep you occupied for 4 years.

Health & Safety: I never felt in danger and felt it was perfectly fine to go everywhere on my own. In addition, the health center is acceptable, though their diagnoses can be a little crazy at times.

Overall Experience: UGA has a great college atmosphere, takes care of its students, and has great educational programs. If I had to do it all again, I'd add in some study abroad. Other than that, do it all the same.

Local Area: Fantastic college town. The downtown area is very student-friendly and caters to college needs. Of course, most students like the giant bar scene. Lots of good local music at small venues.

3 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: Very white Anglo-Saxon. Very Christian. Very middle and upper middle class.

Campus Food: Best meal plan in America! There are a ridiculous number of options, you can eat all the time, and the price is incredibly reasonable. I loved it.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
