4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: There is definitely a lot of diversity in student activities, but how about we have more diversity in the students themselves?

3 College Freshman

Technology: There is a huge technological presence at UGA; however, the WI-FI is beyond terrible.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I really am interested in my field of study. Business is the way to go.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I really have no information on internships. I am interested in participating one day.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: I meet people from distant and distinct backgrounds on a daily basis.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: With the ever present prescience of the UGA police force, I always feel safe on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing is very assistive and they understand the student situation.

Overall Experience: I wasn't convinced that UGA was the right choice for me. I thought it was overly big. But i've come to love it, even for the downsides, such as an overbearing and snobby greek life. Here, it feels like home, even if you're like me, and don't pay attention to football.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Each dorm building has special hand scanners, security is strict but not impossible to bypass. Afterall, it is an open campus. I do feel really safe on this campus though, even late at night.

Greek Life: Greek life is overwhelming. Though they do some have some great philanthropies, i've found most of them to be really cliquey. They all dress the same and the stereotypes are very true here.

Diversity: Diversity overall depends on where you are exactly. Last year my roommate was a foreign exchange student so I was able to really see how many international students there are, which is a lot! But overall, most of the students are middle class white people, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but just an observation. However, though most of the students are white and from Georgia, most of them are also very welcoming to people of different backgrounds and beliefs, though, stay away from Greek life in general, they can be a bit close-minded. However, there are some special diversity frats and sororities.

Administration: The school is pretty lenient about most things. They understand the whole college kid experience.

Campus Housing: Most of the dorms are pretty terrible. Last year I was basically paying 600 to share a room with someone and not even have my own kitchen. Some dorms are much better than others and it is nice to be near classes.

Drug Safety: The school requires the students to partake in an online drug and alcohol awareness course online before being allowed to come to school. It was informative, but the social scene just throws anything you learned about it aside. Most people though don't care if you don't drink or do drugs.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Many of the scholarships are based on your parents income. Apparently that is a Federal rule which is frustrating because my parents don't help me pay for mine, even though I'm in honor student. I've tried to talk to the financial department for ages to get some financial aid but it is to no avail.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of great options in town. Most of them revolve around the area of Downtown. Some places offer discounts if you use this system called Bulldawg Bucks, but most students don't use them unless they live on campus.

Athletics: People here have a ton of school spirit, largely due to the sports.

Majors: I haven't had an internship yet but there seem to be many opportunities. UGA has various career related events that help students reach professionals. They even have a great program called "Internship for a Day", look it up!

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I recently decided on my major as Psychology. My career goal is to be a psychiatrist but that plan is still tentative as the medical field will be changing soon.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: There are plenty of great study spots all over campus from quiet areas to areas with just the perfect amount of stimulation. I've not had a bad experience with a professor so far. They have all been pretty approachable but do take the work seriously. My workload has been manageable but only do to being forced to work on my time management.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: There are many opportunities to participate in psychological testings and the professors are generally approachable.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: There are computers almost everywhere on campus available for use. There are even iMacs available for use with various adobe programs, including photoshop.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The Franklin college is pretty nice, with a large variety of classes and tons of choices for academic support.

2 College Sophomore

Majors: The only selective majors I can think of are for the business school, which requires a minimum GPA. Also, your choice of major in the business school is not guaranteed.

Parking: Parking is everywhere, and if you have a car, it's worth it.

One of the most amazing things about students at UGA is that I have never heard one person say they don't like being here. UGA and Athens have so much to offer in so many different categories, that there really is something for everyone. The positive energy of 30,000 people who are happy to be here is captivating, and something you will instantly want to be a part of. It will not take long before you regard Athens as your second home, and after about a week, most students forget how big a school it is.

It's exciting to be in Athens because there is always something going on, whether it is entertainment, a demonstration, job fairs, or just a chance to hang out with people you just met who are now your best friends. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and make the most of their four years here, and most students are able to achieve their ultimate "college experience." Sometimes, it seems like we are all characters in some cheesy teen movie because college life in Athens is so classic, but academically, socially, and personally, this school seems to have changed most of us for the better.
