Greek Life: I can't imagine my college experience without my Greek life. Being part of a sorority is important to me because it gives me a sense of belonging. The support that I get from my sisters is amazing.

Weather: Most of the time, the weather is perfect. There isn't much anyone can do to change it, so there is no use complaining about it. After all, I live in Florida!

Campus Housing: Many of the dorms on campus are older, but they are maintained and spacious. I did not particularly like having a community bathroom and having to leave my room to use the facilities.

Health & Safety: Every open campus has its share of security issues. Fortunately, I have had no personal situation to speak of, but I am very aware of my surroundings and cautious.

Transportation: The campus shuttle is great and has many pickups throughout the campus. The drivers are friendly and get me where I need to go.

Athletics: Being a student at a school in the South Eastern Conference where your team has won the national championship in multiple sports is very exciting. The students are very supportive at all of the sports events, and the spirit is unlike anything I've ever experienced.

Campus Housing: I enjoy living in my dorm. It's convenient to be able to come to the lounge and study alongside my friends. I also feel that for a dorm room, I have a lot of space and enjoy my room.

Diversity: UF has such a diverse student body and I think that anyone who came here would be able to find their niche.

Administration: Whenever I go out on the weekends, I always see police officers standing outside. While some may find this to be overbearing, I find that it's comforting to know that if anything bad were to happen, there would be an officer nearby.

Athletics: Going to football and basketball games are one of my favorite things to do. I love how spirited our entire school becomes in regards to the sports and it's something that unites the entire student body.

Greek Life: I'm part of Greek life here and I love it. It has helped to make the campus seem smaller and has not only introduced me to a great group of friends but has also provided me with the opportunity to learn about a lot of different clubs, organizations, and connections.

Party Scene: I think that there's a wide variety of things to do in regards to nightlife. There are several different bars and club available and there is always public transportation, such as the Later Gator or SNAP, that can get people to and from different locations safely.

Transportation: I've used the public transportation to get to and from my job off campus and it was extremely convenient and easy to use. The app that's available to download in order to see which routes are active and the times that buses will be coming also made using public transportation easier.

Off-Campus Dining: It's extremely convenient that there are so many off campus dining options that are within walking distance of campus, especially for those that do not have a car. I think that there is a good variety of types of food as well as prices.

Off-Campus Housing: You really have to decide what is most important to you between living near campus, having low rent, and having a nice-looking place to live. There are options for all tastes, though.

Administration: You're not doing anything illegal if you don't get caught. We're allowed pretty free reign, but having the rules in place force us to practice discretion. I think this is a good thing: we can practice free will without devolving into total anarchy.

Technology: Most colleges require that you have access to a computer, so it is usually easier to just have your own. The printing lab offers 300 free pages per semester, so you don't need to bring a printer.

Weather: Some days are really beautiful, and then other days are deadly hot or incredibly wet. Since most people walk around outside, the weather really affects daily activities.

Majors: I'm in Chemical Engineering. Everyone is very supportive, and there is a sort of camaraderie among those who suffer through all the difficult classes together.

Drug Safety: If you want some, you can get some. But people don't pressure you into doing anything (unless you are a pledge in a fraternity), and you can definitely hang out with people without partaking in drugs or alcohol usage.

Transportation: The bus line goes to the major areas of gville, but the farther from campus you want to go, the less likely it is to find a bus. You personally don't need a car, but it's good to find someone who does have a car.

Party Scene: Midtown is convenient and always alive.

Scholarships: UF is generally stingy, but I got merit money.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
