Academics: So far the academics are great, and the professors are very easy-going with questions and issues. They all are very intelligent and helpful. The registration process is simple to do as long as you know what you need and want to do. If you don't, there are advisers to assist you when needed. Workload is decent; as long as you do not leave it to the last minute, you should be fine.

Guys & Girls: As far the people on campus, they are all very unique in their own way. We have over 50, 000 students on campus; there is bound to be someone who fits your personality, just have to find them.

Technology: I'm not sure to be honest because I use my own personal laptop and printer. It is just simpler that way.

Diversity: University of Florida is quite diverse. Wherever you walk, you will find people of various religions, sexual orientations, diversities, etc. One of the 900 clubs on campus will definitely fit your needs in some way.

Greek Life: Being a freshman, I'm not exactly sure on how influential the Greeks are on campus, but they are predominant. Non-Greeks feel many different ways towards Greeks. Some like them, some don't, and some just ignore them or feel indifferent about them. There are separate streets just for the frats and sororities on campus. The frat houses are absolutely amazing in comparison to the sororities, which makes me think that the frats have priority over the sororities.

Drug Safety: I honestly do not see any sort of "bad" scene on campus. I know it is present on campus, but it is not obvious. If you want to be apart of the scene, you have to go and find it. University of Florida is good about keeping things in private and not bothering people who don't want to partake in it. You have to literally put yourself in the situation to get affected.

Weather: The biggest problem is when it rains. The campus is large and trying to get from one building to another can be a hassle, there are buses that can help with that though.

Off-Campus Housing: There are so many off campus housing options. There are 1/1's, 2/2's, 3/3's, and 4/4's available.

The location of the apartment complex you choose is going to depend on what stores and restaurants are available, however regardless there are countless options.

Living off- campus is cheaper than living on campus and buses are always running so if you do not have a car and need to get to campus it is not a problem.

Campus Food: The dining halls are good, but sometimes you just get use to the food that they serve. There is a variety of options on campus to get good food as well as multiple places right next to campus to get food.

Campus Quality: At the University of Florida, Student Government has made it possible to keep Library West open for 24 hours which is really convenient for pulling all nighters.

The gyms on campus are awesome. South West Rec is open early in the morning and late into the night making it easy to work out!

Weather: During the winter, the weather is great! It is nice and cool outside, but the summers are an awful, humid mess.

Campus Housing: If you are accepted in the honors program, you must live in Hume your freshman (and possibly sophmore) year. It is by far the best dorm on campus.

Majors: If I could do it all over again, I might have started in the higher level English classes sooner. I was told it was important to work my way up, but honestly the 3000-4000 level classes tend to have real professors and aren't that much harder. While some professors can be infuriating, you can at the very least respect that they know their subject.

Majors: English at UF is what you would expect. Reading can be a bit much at times, but for the most part you can be prepared through sparknotes. I tend to have two to four papers in each class, either two double spaced 10 page papers or 3-4 double spaced 4-5 page papers. Expect daily quizzes on your reading, but if you find a class that doesn't do that, jump on it. The class will be a nice break.

Majors: Getting into the English major was really easy. Getting into the university is the hard part. You just have to speak to the Liberal Arts and Sciences department and ask an adviser to make your major English. I declared it my second semester and there were no hoops to jump through.

Transportation: UF has a great campus and local transportation system. Every night a student-run organization drives students all night to and from campus.

Drug Safety: I hear about drug use but have never witnessed it. Alcohol is big around campus and is pretty relevant.

Campus Housing: Horrible. I doing worst than planned living on campus. It's expensive, staff members (Resident Assistants and Graduate Hall Directors) are mostly rude and talked bad about residents, and you are stuck on campus for the entire year and can't leave even you are on the verge of eviction.

Guys & Girls: Varies from person to person. I feel like those who are in fraternities and sororities can be pretty rude sometimes.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
