Campus Housing: Overall, campus housing at UF is a great value.

Off-Campus Housing: The apartments that are in walking distance are high priced but others, further away, are cheaper.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Dining hall food gets really old really fast. Other options are sometimes prepared sloppily.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I lived in a dorm freshman year. It was very nice and comfortable, just a little pricey.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: Getting financial aid was very difficult because of all the documents needed and the lack of feedback from the financial aid office until the last minute. Also, they won't send any emails or notifications or update the status of your financial aid on their website unless you call or visit the office to remind them to do so.

3 College Senior

Campus Food: Since I make my meals at home and don't eat at any of the restaurants on campus I can't give a good review on the dining options.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Most apartments are friendly, but if they aren't really expensive, they're really dirty. Basically, you have to pick and choose what's more important to you: cleanliness, price, proximity, etc.

Off-Campus Dining: I love the off-campus dining here! They have a wide variety of options and multiple little "holes in the wall" restaurants.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Everything is strict here, but it is mostly for our safety. Parking is already enough hassle and on top of it, they are very strict. Many times, officers give out tickets even for 2 minutes before parking is lifted.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It's difficult, but everyone is very helpful. Scholarships are tedious and a hassle as well but worth it very much.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Parties here are awesome. The party scene goes late, but not too late since we all have to get up and go to class the next day. It is a very good balance between party and studying here.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
