4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have very much enjoyed my time at the University of Florida.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I absolutely love this school. Everyone on campus is so friendly and professors are (for the most part) helpful and encouraging. It's a phenomenal place to be where you will be pushed to be your best.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Some professors are helpful and great at communicating the class material; other professors are disorganized and overly complicate concepts. Class sizes range from 12 to 100+ per classroom.

Health & Safety: SNAP has been very convenient for transporting my friends and I to on campus places at night. My friends and I have walked around on campus at night, and haven't felt unsafe. However, there are a lot of armed robberies and assaults off campus.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Very convenient in terms of access to classes and on campus activities. However, my dorm was rather old (lived on 4th floor and no elevator), and there were only 3 washers/3 dryers for a building of about 200 students. Dorm mates are friendly, though hygiene for some is questionable.

Greek Life: There's no pressure to join a fraternity or sorority.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There were one or two really good professors. Others don't seem to care much about how much their students understand a topic, and some are very confusing.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have loved all my teachers so far, they really care about us and help us as much as they can. The classes are hard but doable.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have a good feeling about the future and getting a job. The career resource center is a very helpful spot to go to.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Its a pretty safe school which is shocking. You must be careful but it is a great place

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The dorms are nice, its hard to get good roommates though. Nice and clean, also great spaces to meet friends

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I am not really into the idea of greek life. From what I know frats are pushy and sororities are filled with snobby girls.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: I do not know much about sports since that's not my area but gator football players are great. The games are intense and fun.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have had such a great time. The teachers are amazing, the classes interesting and the people are fun. I really enjoy the Gator atmosphere.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I live off campus and truly enjoy the scenery of Gainesville!

Health & Safety: UF has a lot of programs in place to help combat campus sexual assaults. Most of the sexual assault issues we have had on campus since I have been at UF have been related to people walking home alone and being assaulted in that manner, as opposed to alcohol/party related sexual assaults. To deal with this issue, UF introduced multiple safety organizations that will walk home with students late at night or give them rides home, which has actually also helped to reduce instances of drunk driving.

Campus Housing: Dorms on campus are fairly nice. They are somewhat overpriced, but there is a certain level of convenience when it comes to living on campus.

Greek Life: Greek life is somewhat cliquey at UF, but they do a lot of good with their philanthropy.

Athletics: We have one of the best overall athletic programs in the country, due in large part to the incredible efforts of Jeremy Foley. It will be hard to replace a man who has done so much for the University of Florida in his time here. The University of Florida does have very good Football and Basketball programs, but what makes UF one of the best overall athletic programs in the country is the fact that we are very dominant in the sports that do not receive as much attention. We are consistently dominant in sports like softball, gymnastics, track and field, swimming and diving, and many more. This dominance in athletics translates to a strong school spirit amongst the many UF students who take pride in being Gators.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
