Overall Experience: So far my experience has been good at this school

Health & Safety: One of the most contributing factors as to why I chose the University of Florida over my other top colleges is the overall feeling of safety and security I had while walking the campus. Unlike other schools, there are no spots that you are warned to avoid or told to never walk alone at because the campus is safely patrolled and well lit in all areas. The emergency towers are located at every corner. The SNAP is very convenient as it provides free, late night rides for students who need to get across campus and may not feel comfortable.

Campus Housing: I lived in Beaty towers and to start off, the view was just phenomenal. I was on the 12th floor overlooking the Gator Nation. The cleaning staff came once a week, and they were very sweet and often asked us how our transition from home to school is going. The cost was about average. I loved having a kitchen and bathroom in my room.

Greek Life: Personally, I chose not to take the Greek life route. It isn't really my scene. I wanted to focus on other things. The fraternities and sororities do a ton of fun activities together, but they don't really interact with any non-Greek life students. There's no tension or anything, they just kind of stay in their own bubble.

Athletics: I can't even describe the shock of electricity that ran through my veins the first time I stood in the Ben Hill Griffin stadium with my fellow Gators. It was louder and more exciting than any concert or other sporting event I have ever been to.

Overall Experience: My school is the most unique because the professors still manage to get to know their students on a personal level even though they may have close to 500 students per class. The student government creates opportunities for everyone- if you're not into greek life or partying, they make activities for you to do. Every Friday is gator nights, and it is a great way for the gator nation to come together as a community and play games as well as watch movies and eat free food. The RA's were very personal. Overall, UF helped my transition from home to living on my own go smoothly. I felt very supported. It seemed like everyone wanted to see you achieve and succeed.

Campus Housing: I did campus housing for my first semester and it was alright. I had an apartment-style dorm with a full kitchen but the only downside was that it was very far from the center of campus.

Greek Life: Greek life is very apparent on campus and very involved. While you don't have to be a part of a fraternity to be involved, you definitely will if you join one.

Athletics: Here at the University of Florida students are more than spirited. During game days the stadium is packed to the brim with excited fans, students and non-students alike, chanting and cheering.

Overall Experience: My orientation at this school was one of the best experiences I've had yet! The presentations were both entertaining and informative. The people running the program know what they're talking about and are clearly well trained.

Campus Housing: Although my dorm gave great memories, it was barely renovated and very old. I wish the bathrooms had been nicer, as well as the mold infested rooms.

Greek Life: Greek life at UF made my transition from high school to college a hundred times easier. I found my best friends through Greek life, I found a home away from home, and I found my place at the University of Florida all thanks to my Greek organization.

Campus Housing: Personally I feel like the dorms are good for the most part, but can be slightly on the crowded side. However, I stayed in the Infinity dorm, which was too expensive and far from campus for me to like it very much.

Greek Life: I'm not exactly the best person to talk to about describing the Greek Life because I view it as frivolous and meaningless. However, my attitude extends beyond that in pointing out that the fact that Greek Life is highly integrated into student government means that any policies passed have a pro Greek agenda.

Athletics: Obviously the University of Florida has a good reputation when it comes to sports, and the complexes that students are allowed to utilize are state of the art.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I would choose this school if given the choice because its reputation comparable to other schools in Florida is high. Additionally, there are many opportunities to get involved in extra curricular activities.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Although certain courses can be overwhelming at times, this school provides its students with great opportunities. There's a huge variety of courses you can take and the professors are all passionate and qualified for the subjects they teach.

Overall Experience: A degree from the University of Florida holds great value. As a student here, I believe we are provided with countless opportunities to further our education and prepare for our careers, no matter what our field of study is.

Health & Safety: In almost any city there will be issues crime and safety. I can confidently say that I have felt safe and secure while on this campus.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus has its ups and downs. I would say the perks of living on campus would be being extremely close to classes and dining halls. On the other hand, parking on campus is a headache and dorms are pretty small.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I personally am not involved in Greek life due to the cost, but I think it's a great way to meet new people and be more involved on campus.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Whether you're physically play a sport on campus or not, every student here has great school spirit and support for the athletic teams.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
