Overall Experience: I was not a fan of general education courses, but now I love my higher level classes.

Campus Housing: I was not a fan of living in a dorm, I am happy to be in an apartment now.

Greek Life: I was a part of Greek life because I thought it was the thing everyone did. It didn't workout for me.

Overall Experience: UF is a huge school and it is sometimes hard to find where you fit in. Great academics.

Campus Housing: Living in close quarters with one or two other people is certainly different from having your own space at home, and that can be difficult to deal with. However, the housing options to make students happy are extensive. There are single rooms, double rooms, triple rooms, apartment style, suite style, and luxury dorm options. The best dorms are Beaty Towers, Cypress Hall, and Jennings Hall. The worst dorms are some of the older buildings, but for the most part everything is pretty decent. Dorms are EXTREMELY well placed in terms of proximity to classes and to the more popular parts of town. The housing process is easy to understand and almost everyone gets their housing preferences.

Greek Life: Our Greeks have had some issues in the past (like all universities) but for the most part they are all very involved with the community and want to give everyone an opportunity to experience life as a Greek. The parties are never over the top but they are present, safe, and fun. Greek housing is typically cheaper than any on campus housing but since our srats and frats are so large, getting to live at the houses is difficult. Thankfully, there are LOTS of on campus housing options directly next to frat and srat houses.

Athletics: Our football team was pretty great this year, especially compared to the past few years. Everyone shows up at every sporting event that they can to support their gators and cheer them to victory. I go to the gym very often and our facilities are absolutely beautiful and up to date. The athletes are smart, hard working, and dedicated to what they do. They know that they are students just like the rest of us and treat everyone as equals.

Overall Experience: I would absolutely choose UF again and again if I had to do all of this over. The classes are engaging, the campus is beautiful, the students are smart, the professors are passionate, the learning opportunities are endless, the feeling of family and tradition is prominent, the pride of every student is obvious, and I feel like there is no better school in the country.

Overall Experience: I have only been at my School for 2 weeks now but I like it so far!

Health & Safety: I think that campus is very safe and there are always police around or just people around and it is well lit and you can feel safe around campus by yourself.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Based off what I have heard, a degree from the university carries a great deal of weight in the career world and is a valuable asset when trying to find a job.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I really enjoy my school and think it is a great place. The professors are great, the community is great, and the school is awesome.

5 College Junior

Athletics: The athletic program here is one of the best in the nation and it is known all over the country. Our teams haven't faired well in recent years, but they have one of the best legacies in the country.

Overall Experience: I think that my school is very prestigious yet it is not very difficult. It challenges you but you can get a good education without having to overwork yourself. I think all the professors are very engaging and personally invested in the topics they teach. I feel that you get a very valuable experience without a great deal of rigor. Also, it isn't extremely expensive and I am out of state.

Health & Safety: It has gotten to the point where the safety and the police of the campus are made fun of; nothing ever seems to get done. This campus is more concerned about telling you how to deal with the assault then how to prevent it. It feels like a false care because they are more concerned with protecting certain individuals (such as athletic participants) than helping the many.

Overall Experience: Some teachers care others give up faster than the students do. Some courses provide too much information, others are trying to make a full class out of something that should not be a class at all. This is a school of extremes and it is hard to find something just right sometimes.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Most times it seems people are doing well and graduate happy, but the majority of it feels like something you have to be ready to face on your own; there is not much guidance it is something you have to prepare for yourself. The quality of things are good as long as you make (sometimes demand) the effort.

Campus Housing: People lack respect in some areas, some places lack certain convinces but the benefits sometimes manage to make it slightly better and rules never seemed to be enforced or cared for. RA's do not really seem to care and only provide superficial guidance or help.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
