Greek Life: Greeks Are Minority, but Act Like Majority – Only about 20% of campus is Greek, but you'd never guess that given their self-promotion and habits. There are always parties to be at and Greek lifestyle is viewed as completely different.

3 College Junior

Diversity: A lot of students come from well-off families and are a little spoiled.

Overall Experience: I Love the Swamp – UF is the perfect college. We take pride in everything we do from sports to academics and try our best to succeed in everything we do.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The bars and restaurants in midtown always have a good deal for the students and the food is delicious!

4 College Freshman

Technology: There are plenty at the libraries and at the computer labs

4 College Freshman

Local Area: I love the balance of social life with academic life.

5 College Freshman

Academics: I am an academic scholar and my academic experience has been superb. Even though it isn't an Ivy League School, I have gotten incredible academic experiences and opportunities.

Administration: You Can't Park Anywhere – The most numerous offenses on campus are usually traffic related. Parking is horrendous and any minor infraction will get you a ticket and a pretty hefty fine. Other than that, the police force is pretty decent and gives a sense of security to students.

Greek Life: It Could Go Either Way – Greek life is decent for those involved in it, but there are still plenty of opportunities to be involved on campus even if you're not in a sorority or fraternity.

Campus Housing: Close to Classes, but Very Sterile – The dorms are great as far as location goes, but they are very sterile and plain.

Transportation: The university's bus system is wonderful. The buses come by every 15 minutes or so, and run all day and even at night. On the weekends, there is a bus that runs late at night so that students have a safe ride to and from downtown. Bus access is free with your student id card.

Off-Campus Housing: There are so many places to choose from in Gainesville for off-campus housing. Many of the places offer all-inclusive plans at low monthly rates, so most places are very appealing to students. Their amenities also cater to college students. Off-campus living can be very enjoyable.

Technology: The wifi network on campus is always fast and reliable. Wireless access is available all throughout the large campus. The computers in the Health Science library can be crowded sometimes, but most of the time computers are available.

Administration: Parking policies are very strict. Campus police are always patrolling the area, ready to give tickets to people who park incorrectly or without a sticker. The police also take underage drinking and drug use very seriously.

Campus Housing: The dorms are small, which is expected. Many students like to live off campus if they can.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a variety of places to eat near and around the campus that are fairly affordable. Many places appeal to college students.

Scholarships: Very Hard to Get – From experience, the only way to get financial aid is if your parents have poor incomes. Otherwise, you are expected to take advantage of what bright futures has left to offer (which isn't much). There are academic scholarships that are extremely hard to receive. Besides that, there are not any other options.

Campus Quality: Unique Experience in Gainesville – There are many unique aspects of life in Gainesville. Going to a game at The Swamp is a must. The Stephen O' Connell Center is also an amazing facility that offers concerts along with sporting events such as Basketball and Swim meets. The life in downtown Gainesville is also an amazing experience. From the music scene, to the traditional art festivals to dining, the experience is uniquely Gainesville!

Academics: Not Extremely Impressed With Professors – I've been at this school for almost three years now and I have not had very notable Psychology experiences. The teachers don't seem very keen on teaching. Many of them seem concerned only with their own research. Some classes are interesting, but I feel that the program could be improved greatly.

Greek Life: Only Rich Beauties Accepted – While I have never rushed, I have friends who have told me the majority of sororities only accept you if you are pretty, fashionable, and have a "stuck-up" attitude. During rush week, one could see the perfectly made up girls in packs constantly judging one another and not really seeming to enjoy themselves.

4 College Student

Local Area: A True College Town – Gainesville always has something happening whether it is going out with friends to a favorite restaurant, doing an activity with one of the hundreds of clubs on campus, or simply completing schoolwork!

3 College Junior

Weather: Rainy Days – It is a hassel getting to class on time when it rains.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Reitz Union – There are many dining places to choose from at the reitz union.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Very Safe – Whenever theres a threat of danger on campus we are always notified.

Guys & Girls: they Dress up very good everyday the heaved some Tie That' the principle at my school recommended else to do the respect that me i dress every single day.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
