Drug Safety: There will be drugs everywhere you go in America, but there is a particularly high level of marijuana consumption by the students at UF. There is not too many very harmful drugs, but there is alot of underage drinking that I have witnessed as well.

Administration: Depends on where you are and things like who your RA is. Don't get caught and you'll be fine, and it's very easy not to get caught.

Diversity: Haven't noticed a huge difference in the types of people. Campus is very diverse in race and culture but it's not hugely important to me.

Campus Food: Gator Dining – Love Gator Corner Dining Hall, Fresh Foods at Broward isn't quite up to par however. I usually save flex bucks until the last week or two then binge on the food around campus. Love Homezone too.

Party Scene: Party at Your Favorite House – The partys in my college are great you can always count on having plenty to drink before the club and definately after. I guess you can call most kids up at night and just start a party no matter what. Everybody loves to drink and can't wait to start the next night.

Overall Experience: This University opens a lot of options and opportunities to its students. It has a great balance of both academics and social life. And it lovess sports! :) Everyone is genuinely friendly; people actually walk around and say "Go Gators!" to each other, just like they do in the commercials.

Party Scene: Its There – There are a decent number of clubs, many of which are 18+. Also there are many parties and hosted events. But partying isnt always for everyone, which is why this university is great. With the amount of activities offered on campus (almost all of which are free), it isnt even necessary to go out.

Health & Safety: Very Safe – I have never felt unsafe on campus. Although there are a lot of trees everything is very well lit and police officers canvas the area at night. Also, there is a free van service that takes you anywhere you need to go on campus once it gets dark.

Transportation: Buses Run Regularly – Buses run regularly, both on campus and around the city of Gainesville. They are free with a student ID. Most people ride the bus to school from apartments.

Athletics: Everyone Loves Gator Football – Gator athletics are huge! Everyone loves the Gators. Football is probably the most popular among students, alumni, and the general public alike. There are always other sporting events going on, though, from basketball to lacrosse to swim meets. The facilities are wonderful and the fans are die hard.

Guys & Girls: Very Diverse – UF has a very diverse population. Of course you have your "typical" college students, but there are so many different varieties of guys and girls. Depending of what program you are in, you may have some older students or international students. There are many students from other countries. Greek like is big at UF, so you will see a lot of girls wearing Greek t-shirts and bags with their chapter initials.

Campus Housing: Freshmen Experience – Living on campus has been pretty convienent for me. I have a dining hall less than a block away and the amentities such as laundry, electricity, a/c are all pretty nice. Then again, I reside in newly renovated dorm. Go Gators!

Campus Quality: Lovely Libraries – There are many libraries to choose from on campus. Each one offers a unique study atmosphere, and although there are seperate libraries committed to certain colleges all provide an excellent space to study! Go libraries! :)

Diversity: Variety of Places to Live. They got them all. High to low level living. Depends on your budget. RTS has a million stops.

Off-Campus Dining: Tons of Restaurants Around Campus – There are plenty of places off campus for UF students to eat. Many places on the east side of campus offer students locally owned establishments to dive into like Leonardo's, Farrah's, and Reggae Shack Cafe. The west side of campus offers students the more commercial route with the run of the mill fast food joints and sit-down restaurants.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: There could be a lot more variety. The food is way overpriced.

3 College Junior

Technology: Computer access is easy. Could use more free printing accessible computers.

3 College Junior

Academics: I dislike my program. I feel that it is not being run properly.

Campus Quality: We're Diverse – My school has many growing programs that are being developed despite budget cuts. That being said, there is a major and a passion for everyone and everything, including 'make your own major' options. Our engineering department as well as other noteworthy departments are very strong when compared to the rest of the nation. There are hundreds of student organizations and a very strong community of diverse students which in turn create a very strong social, academic, and intellectual web that personifies the University of Florida. Football aside, we're pretty awesome regardless of how the Gators do on the field. Some people forget that, but there are students who have much more pride in their Gator academics than others.

Parking: If the parking enforcement on campus spent more time doing more important things and less time giving out stupid and ridiculous fines to students who have enough chaos in their educational life, everyone would be happier, and the parking enforcement wouldn't have 6 months worth of appeals to sort through before they got to yours. They don't like doing it, we don't like getting them. Just stop giving them out for silly things. The parking on campus is WAY too expensive. At other universities, parking is FREE, and is based on a first come first served basis. Here, it's over $130 dollars for a decal you really would only use sometimes, cause sometimes is when you'd be able to find parking on campus. The system is completely unorganized and illogical. I understand there are many students, but there are areas you could make parking spaces. Where are those places? The places you usually spend your time giving out parking tickets at. Excuse me for being bitter, but it really seems like the students who are studying efficiency of transportation and parking would be able to come up with a better solution that the people who run it now. The parking department spends more time making room for their alumni than fixing the current parking problems.

Off-Campus Housing: Typical for a Large College Area – I can't give you a black and white rating because it depends on where you look and want to live. Few complexes have 'good deals'. Finding the balance between freaking expensive hoity toity, far away, complexes and cheap but ghetto, nearby campus, and not that well taken care of complexes is fairly difficult and can be overwhelming. No place is perfect, but I think a major issue complexes should invest in is the safety of their residents. That includes installing higher technology unit access devices. In other words: providing the residents with a lock that cant be picked with a paperclip and not charging them extra for extra security. Make rent a reasonable amount. Major issue number two: management can be douchebags. Just be considerate and nice. That's all anybody wants.

Local Area: Gainesville is strictly a college town -- very few people live in Gainesville that are not affiliated with the University of Florida. Because of this, there are tons of attractions for college aged students, such as clubs, restaurants, socials, and shows. An area just north of UF campus, alled Midtown, consists of the major clubs and bars students like to go to. Downtown Gainesville is also trendy and has a few nicer restaurants such as Harry's Seafood and Dragonfly Sushi restaurant. The homeless poulation in downtown Gainesville is quite high.

Weather: Mildly Unpredictable – The weather here in North Florida can be weird sometimes. Most days are pretty nice. It is very hot in the summer but cold in the winter. No snow or anything too extreme, perhaps a hurricane here or there but they are usually mild and few and far in between. Rain can be unpredictable, especially in summer. A good rule of thumb is to expect rain everyday at around 3 in the afternoon during the summer months. I gets very cold around December and January so make sure you have a warm jacket. Rest of the year is usually mild to hot and humid in the summer.

Administration: Pretty Reasonable – Strictness at UF does depend in part on what you're doing and where you're doing it. In the dorms, there is a very strict policy against things like drinking and drugs. However, the severity of the enforcement usually depend on your RA. They will certainly enforce policy but they are usually pretty fair and nice about it. On campus there is one rule "Do not mess with UFPD" We have a very large police presence on campus and they are quick and effective at cracking down on all sorts of violations especially traffic ones. (Don't speed on your bike... you will get caught) Some feel that they go a little too far sometimes but I know that having the great police presence on campus makes me feel very safe on campus, even at night. But don't do anything illegal because they most definitely will throw the book at you. This also goes for policies for cheating as well.

Diversity: Tossed Salad – UF campus have a very large and diverse population. There are people from all racial, economic, political, religious backgrounds as well as a large LGBT group. Most of these groups are all very vocal and active on campus and are well represented. The biggest struggle with diversity on campus I feel is trying to make everyone feel accepted without losing the individual characteristics of each group. All in all, the UF campus is very welcoming and supportive of people from all backgrounds.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
