Greek Life: Most of the campus seems to be affiliated with the Greek life on campus and they make other people on campus seem less important or not worthy of their time if they aren't a part of the Greeks social atmosphere, at least in my experience.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Information about intramural sports is hard to find because the campus is so focused on football and men's basketball because those are the most popular sports season.

Overall Experience: The University of Florida has a plethora of opportunities for students to get involved in campus. It is a tad bit challenging for freshmen to get involved and gain access to well respected clubs, however, the campus generally provides great opportunity and challenge to its students. I would definitely chose to come to the University of Florida again if I had to do the process all over again.

Campus Housing: I live in Hume, which is one of the nicer dorms, so I think my dorms are pretty nice. However, I have also been in some dorms where the sanitary conditions of communal bathrooms is not that great, and the size of rooms aren't always great either.

Athletics: The football games are great. Everyone gets so hyped up over them, so it's a great atmosphere in the stadium whenever there's a game.

Greek Life: I am not a part of Greek Life myself, so I know that members of Greek Life tend to only hang out with other members of Greek Life, which is kind of cliquey and non-inclusive. However, my sister is in a sorority, and I know that she loves her sisters there, so it is good for people who are a part of it.

Health & Safety: The blue light service around campus really helps me feel safe because they are in many different locations and are easy to access if I feel in danger. The only thing that bothers me is that SNAP, which is supposed to make it safer for you to travel at night by driving you places, isn't really all that safe because it takes forever to get to you so you might be waiting outside in the dark for a while, which still brings you potential danger.

Overall Experience: Having a large Career Showcase with many different companies involved definitely helps students get their name out there in their career field, even if they don't get a job at that moment, which can help them advance their careers after graduation from UF.

Overall Experience: I love my school a lot. The atmosphere is really inviting and there are so many activities for students. There are tons of clubs and activities going on every single day.

Campus Housing: When I applied for housing, I logged on late and the only rooms still available were economic triples (doubles with three people). I was a little nervous at first, but it ended up working really well. My roommates and I are living together next year too!

Greek Life: I love being in a sorority. It is great to have a group of girls that I can always go to. I'm also from out of state, so it really helped me assimilate to the campus.

Athletics: During the fall, foorball games are a huge event and are looked forward too. During the rest of the year, attendance at games aren't as large, but a good amount of students go.

Health & Safety: There seems to be a lot of armed robberies happening on campus, and I seem to be getting a lot of UF alerts about them which is alarming.

Campus Housing: I've really enjoyed living on campus, and am going to continue to do so next year.

Greek Life: I personally am not a part of the greek life here on campus, so I can't really say much about it.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Athletics are such an important part of the University of Florida's student life. Whether a student is a part of the team themselves or are a spectator- everyone feels as if they are a part of the action.

Overall Experience: I am in absolute love with the University of Florida. I feel like this school environment is such a safe space, and each and every student is free to be whoever they want to be- and it's such an incredible feeling to be a part of it.

Party Scene: Midtown is literally right across the street from campus, so night life is very convenient. It helps that it's close, so you can get home safely. Those areas, though, have become pretty grimy and gross, but I guess that how most night clubs/bars are? UF offers transportation within campus, so if you don't live across the street, you can get home safely on campus if you at least cross the street to get back on campus.

Party Scene: Parties are most prevalent in sororities and fraternities, on campus. They might be the "best" because they're bigger, louder and more frequent

Academics: Registration is overall fair, as seniors get first choice. Workload is mostly minimal and I feel that more focus is placed on studying. Definitely a great variety in personality of professors that you have to be adaptable to. I think UF also has a great variety of degrees that can act as many stepping stones for pre-professional school.

Diversity: There is great diversity on campus, especially through student organizations. But in a way that can hurt us, because the divide is very apparent and the atmosphere can become very us versus them.

Overall Experience: School is incredibly challenging but I love it. It's such a family I've created here at UF with my classmates.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
